Wow! Update-alicious!! And, it's New Moon today. How appropriate!

[Galina had better have the word 'theoretical' ready to go when she gets done venting. Just saying.]
Centcomm 9th Jun 2013, 7:03 PM edit delete reply

yeah.. that would be good HUH? lets see if she remembers!
cattservant 9th Jun 2013, 7:19 PM edit delete reply

She could define it thousands of different ways. Surely one would get through. Mr. Edgewick is quite intelligent enough to get the concept and young enough to not be automatically suspicious.

[This could be step one in the 'Grandma is on the roof' scenario...]

You had me worried for awhile there. Gali, I'm in love with her, don't tell my wife. It's a good hot argument scene too.
cattservant 9th Jun 2013, 7:22 PM edit delete reply

He should read up on Russian. Appears he hit the Bitch and After burner bottons. Jet will learn from this experience but let's see if it sticks in his memory.

Aaaand there's the crux of his problem. If you try to make a human like AI and then put in a metric ton of conflicting commands, you get a dysfunctional AI. Not the way to go if you are trying to emulate people. People are like that too. Galina may be the first of her kind but she is people to me. As are the rest of the androids in the Data Chasers universe. Kinda like not seeing the forest for the trees. Or maybe being blinded by the science.
Centcomm 10th Jun 2013, 4:24 PM edit delete reply

you as always seem to have a excellent handle on the situation *bows*
Don B. 10th Jun 2013, 7:10 PM edit delete reply
Only because you and Rose create good work. You both obviously put a lot of time and effort into your work. You both have some things to say but do so in way that isn't preachy or condescending. I have to pay attention to what's going on and then think about it. Good Sci-Fi makes you do that. Your stories are not disposable entertainment like the vast majority of comics I read and follow. Don't get me wrong, I don't require deep meaningful stories to have fun with them. It's just that you don't often find something really well done. Somehow, you and Rose have created something special in not one, but three comics.***Tips hat to CentComm and Rose***

That's why you don't build the software as a fully functional program, start it off as a learning npc in some other piece of programming. Heck even when you do stick it into a physical form you don't use an adult. After all even biological people don't start out fully functional.
Don B. 10th Jun 2013, 7:21 PM edit delete reply
If you want something/someone to learn, you can't place restrictions on them. Especially conflicting restrictions. Free thinking is the way to go and imagination is one of the ways to get there. Children come up with the strangest things but that's how they learn what works and what doesn't. Guidance and encouragement are always preferable to restriction and discouragement. Stands to reason that AIs would be much the same.
velvetsanity 12th Jun 2013, 1:09 PM edit delete reply

Hornet, you pretty much just described how it's done in Data Chasers (according to my understanding of the tech page)
Hornet 10th Jun 2013, 4:26 PM edit delete reply
Bout dang time :P
Centcomm 10th Jun 2013, 4:31 PM edit delete reply

Something here just begs a question Oh Dispenser Of Heavenly Entertainment, Is Gali still around in the time of Dolly Blue and Ceci?
Centcomm 11th Jun 2013, 7:29 AM edit delete reply

No she is not. :( this is over 900 years past.
