Could be worse? Could be raining! (somewhat misquoted from the grave digging scene in Young Frankestien).

If any of you out there haven't seen Young Frankenstien, I highly recommend that you do so. It features some of the top comedians of the time at the top of their game. You won't be sorry. FRAU BLUCHER!!

Abby! Abby Normal! ABNORMAL BRAIN!!!
Sheela 13th Jul 2013, 11:18 AM edit delete reply

And now, for something completely different ...

... A man with three bottocks!

Once upon a time, there was a boy named Tony.
He had no hair... no sunglasses... and no seatbelts.
And then one time... he decided to have lunch.
The end.

All in all, being able to notice the change is a good thing generally speaking.
Centcomm 12th Jul 2013, 3:21 AM edit delete reply

yes ... yes it is ..
cattservant 12th Jul 2013, 4:11 AM edit delete reply

I'm slow tonight; Uncomfortably "Numb"!
mjkj 12th Jul 2013, 5:25 AM edit delete reply

Poor Galina *hugs her*

I just hope Chloe and/or Jung-Hyun will find out Galina is hurt (and about to be abducted) soon...
...hopefully before it is too late.

My dislike for captain kiku is still growing - treating her like a prize not a sentient being. More being concerned of her being intact to be dissected not of her hurting.
Centcomm 12th Jul 2013, 9:58 AM edit delete reply

I advise holding off on judgement of Capt Kiku, she knows what shes doing .. her professionalism may seemm uncaring or mean. but she has her reasons. :) and things arent as dark as Galina thinks.
cattservant 12th Jul 2013, 5:03 PM edit delete reply

Galina is at that difficult dramatic age!
Tokyo Rose 13th Jul 2013, 12:05 AM edit delete reply

The captain is a professional. I deliberately wrote her dialogue to reflect that. Keep in mind she's the one who noted that Gali reacts like a real person; that was meant to convey "I'm having trouble believing this is anything but a human being", not "gee golly this machine sure acts like a real person".
mjkj 12th Jul 2013, 5:25 AM edit delete reply

Yay, rank 98 now :)
Centcomm 12th Jul 2013, 9:58 AM edit delete reply

twas at 98 .. 101 now - ive seen this dance before ^_^
Sheela 12th Jul 2013, 10:10 AM edit delete reply

Looks like 98 to me.
mjkj 12th Jul 2013, 11:01 AM edit delete reply

...looks like 97 now...
Hornet 12th Jul 2013, 10:01 AM edit delete reply
Going to the Docks? That's not good.
Don B. 12th Jul 2013, 11:46 AM edit delete reply
I think the captain is getting Galina out of there before the scientist gets wind of her "condition"...the not exactly human thing. I don't think she wants to see Galina taken apart. We'll see soon enough.
cattservant 12th Jul 2013, 5:08 PM edit delete reply

We need to know more about base (and Lunar) politics. Galina has at least two high ranking patrons and may be acquiring another one now.
Stormwind13 12th Jul 2013, 5:49 PM edit delete reply

I think mjkj is responding to what Galina is FEELING! Not necessarily to what is going on.

Things might not be good, but why do I get the feeling they might be running her back over to Nadia? Are the looking for information on her creation or hoping that the correct equipment is there to 'repair' Galina? Both? Neither?

Will CentComm ever let us know? :-D
Centcomm 12th Jul 2013, 6:50 PM edit delete reply

HAH.. that would be spoiler-y of me wouldnt it.. and Rose would beat me horridly .. >_< one thing I can say.. Capt. Kiku is LIA ( Luna Internal Affairs ) she is a "special agent" of Lunar internal police. shes technicly higher rank than ANYone in the base.
Stormwind13 12th Jul 2013, 7:06 PM edit delete reply

Hmmm... Curiouser and curiouser, Alice. :-)

Guess we will have to wait and see what the looking glass has to say.
cattservant 12th Jul 2013, 10:49 PM edit delete reply

Then she is well aware that there are bumpy things out there in the night!
highlander55 12th Jul 2013, 9:31 PM edit delete reply

Galina was adopted remember!

(why is the time showing Central zone?)
Centcomm 13th Jul 2013, 12:58 PM edit delete reply

I have NO idea.. time zones hate me. I use florada time as a guide on updates.. soo whatever time 9pm in florda is .. thats when the comics update if they update..
Highlander55 14th Jul 2013, 9:32 PM edit delete reply
Florida is Eastern. Your PC may not "Spring Ahead" so still showing what is now Central Time.
Karyl 12th Jul 2013, 10:27 PM edit delete reply
at least I don't think she is. I reserve judgment.
mushroomisland 12th Jul 2013, 9:16 PM edit delete reply

>: k laughed wen at DC and now sad at Luna.
Don B. 12th Jul 2013, 11:51 PM edit delete reply
I'm they have some kind of gravity generators on base? It occurred to me when Galina was running down the corridor that if she was in the lunar reduced gravity, she would be bouncing off the ceiling trying something like that. Especially considering that she is stronger than your average human. Mind you, I would be fine with an answer of "because reasons" or artistic licence because I honestly can't see how you can convey that kind of thing in an enclosed space using the sequential art medium. You did nail it for Galina's journey to the base though.
Centcomm 12th Jul 2013, 11:59 PM edit delete reply

actually the living areas are in a huge section of rock that moves in rotation
its actually 0.85 G gali just refered to it as 1/6 and she freaked out anyway..
they dont actually have artifical gravity just cintrifical - some areas are under 1/6 others 1 G
Don B. 13th Jul 2013, 12:31 AM edit delete reply
Cool...but I don't think I'd want to be responsible for the maintenance for something like that. I can see it now..."MOM, the gravity's on the fritz again!!" It would rapidly go downhill from there...
Sheela 13th Jul 2013, 11:17 AM edit delete reply

That's why centrifugal gravity is so clever, it doesn't just stop working because some electronic circuit is on the fritz, as the mass of the rotating station will keep it spinning for a while.
Stormwind13 13th Jul 2013, 2:40 PM edit delete reply

Yes, but the bearings would be a BEAR to replace. And if they froze up, the sudden stop could be BAD.
Sheela 13th Jul 2013, 5:48 PM edit delete reply

With the amount of mass, even if the bearings suddenly froze up, the station would probably still do several rotations before grinding to a halt. Any rock big enough to be a moonbase, would have to be massive.

As for bearings, you could use viscous bearings, they don't really need replacing, you just add a bit of fluid as the old fluid slowly leaks out.
Centcomm 13th Jul 2013, 5:50 PM edit delete reply

also remember almost all the bases are mostly underground. as protection from objects impacting the moon ..
Don B. 13th Jul 2013, 9:53 PM edit delete reply
Still wouldn't want the job. I've worked with fairly large equipment before and all that pales in comparison to what we're talking about here. Variable gravity depending on where you are in the system, near vacuum in some places, moving heavy machinery in confined spaces...I could go on. All in all,you just couldn't pay me enough.
HIghlander55 13th Jul 2013, 10:35 PM edit delete reply
Probably wouldn't use metal bearings. Better to use mag-lev so no friction which also means no parts need replaced.
Stormwind13 14th Jul 2013, 12:54 AM edit delete reply

But then you are back to some electrical circuits to make it go in all likelihood. As long as you could keep it going, it would be a great way of handling it. If it ever failed though, it could be REALLY ugly.

The base's mass crashing into the moon's mass. I think it would grind to a halt pretty darn quick and pretty darn violently too.
