Nice to know "Doctor Who" is still going strong nine hundred years from now! ^_^
Centcomm 17th Dec 2013, 1:28 AM edit delete reply

Hey digital info is easy to save :D They have a lot of TV shows - now books.. thats a tough one.
velvetsanity 17th Dec 2013, 12:31 PM edit delete reply

Are you forgetting about the Nook, Kindle, pdf game books, etc? :D

More and more books are in digital format these days...some of them *only* in digital format (but not many yet)
Centcomm 17th Dec 2013, 4:09 PM edit delete reply

yes sadly paper books are still popular in OUR time but this timeline is very heavy industrial - and sadly the enviroment is paying the price.
velvetsanity 17th Dec 2013, 7:32 PM edit delete reply

No, I'm saying "wouldn't they have all the books in digital format, too?"
Centcomm 17th Dec 2013, 7:35 PM edit delete reply

it depends on what they thought was worth saving .. the point will come up :D
highlander55 17th Dec 2013, 9:26 PM edit delete reply

Being on the moon it would make sense to have digital copies of everything beamed up to save space and weight. Granted- some hard books are sure to be brought up for personal reasons.
velvetsanity 18th Dec 2013, 12:23 PM edit delete reply

roleplaying games (those have already shifted to mostly digital format), fantasy/sci-fi, romance novels, porn, and cookbooks :D
Sheela 18th Dec 2013, 4:11 PM edit delete reply

To quote Tokyo Rose :
"yay, porn .. now go away."
jamie59 17th Dec 2013, 1:20 AM edit delete reply

Centcomm 17th Dec 2013, 1:29 AM edit delete reply

Sheela 17th Dec 2013, 4:05 PM edit delete reply

I suspect that before the story is over, we'll also see some who doesn't handle it so well.

But that's the nature of humans.
Centcomm 17th Dec 2013, 4:09 PM edit delete reply

oh yes you will - sadly ...
Dragonrider 17th Dec 2013, 1:32 AM edit delete reply

So far so good, lets hope Luna Administration doesn't throw a widget in the works.
Stormwind13 17th Dec 2013, 1:35 AM edit delete reply

After all the rough times and prejudice that Galina has had to endure, she deserves to meet someone that is compassion. :-)

And May looks REALLY good on these pages. I want to just give her a big hug for being nice to Galina (and beat mjkj to it for once :-D).
mjkj 17th Dec 2013, 7:29 AM edit delete reply

Argh, I got beat, I am too late ... ;)

*sighs* I acknowledge defeat...

*hugs May and Galina again* :D

Centcomm 17th Dec 2013, 4:10 PM edit delete reply

hey hugs are good even duplicated :D
Stormwind13 17th Dec 2013, 7:38 PM edit delete reply

Well unless the target of said hugs has a broken back, then it might be a bit much. :-D
mjkj 18th Dec 2013, 8:37 AM edit delete reply

Sheela 18th Dec 2013, 4:12 PM edit delete reply

Sheela 18th Dec 2013, 4:13 PM edit delete reply

Meanwhile ... Roboy :

Guess they just need to invent skin now.
Hornet 17th Dec 2013, 2:42 PM edit delete reply
Well lets be honest what makes one, one is not the wrapper but the thinking that goes on inside.
Centcomm 17th Dec 2013, 4:11 PM edit delete reply

and thats the point May is saying .. heck all of Galina's supporters are taking into consideration that there is a person there. instead of just a collection of hard and software.
mjkj 18th Dec 2013, 8:21 AM edit delete reply

Do not forget the ghosts in the machine...
Stormwind13 17th Dec 2013, 7:55 PM edit delete reply

What is a person? I found the article, which explores some of the points of what could make an entity a person. What would be necessary to make an artificial life-form a person? :-)

Everyone has to decide what constitutes a person in their own mind; however, I'll go on record as saying my belief is that Galina is a person. She is not a human being, but that is not the SOLE definition of a person (to me). And I'm not convinced that all those that wear a human skin are persons... Malkin comes (sickeningly) to mind.

So read it (or not) and make up your own minds. :-)
Sheela 18th Dec 2013, 4:38 PM edit delete reply

Link no worky. :(

And indeed, not all life is intelligent, or can be considered persons at all .. like, there's living rocks, and they don't even have a nervous system .. but they're alive. Meanwhile, not all AI's would be able to be "persons" either, even if they had the raw "intelligence" for it, they just might not develop selfawareness to the point where they'd have a sense of self, and thus a personality.

As for reprehensible persons, those are usually also persons, though terrible ones. But there have been some people who had massive enough brain damage that they lost their sense of self and could be considered non-persons.
Stormwind13 18th Dec 2013, 11:45 PM edit delete reply

Well crap, Sheela. It was up last night. I can't get into it either now. Even the bookmark is down. Wonder if it is their server? Or if the evil CentComm got to the website so we couldn't find out secrets maybe? Of course, if that is the case, she might do me...Aaauuuggghhh
