*** ALSO atist note- YES I know Amys hair is suppose to be black, When i recovered her from the HD crash I forgot and the page was assembled and finished before Rose reminded me that her hair is black - so Sorry >_< Her hair will be black from now on :)
Writer: Why the hell is her hair green? It should be black.
Artist: No, it's fine.
Writer: *displays previous pic of Amy with black hair*
Artist: Oops. Um. I can fix it.
Writer: You going to re-shoot?
Artist: No, no, I can just color correct it in Photoshop!
Writer: . . . are you sure?
Artist: It'll be fine!
Uh oh indeed. Where is Captain Yukimura? She IS security. She should be all over Dr. Granger...
Poor Galina's WORST nightmare, Dr. Granger. Dragging Galina's SECOND worst nightmare with him, the robot girl. And she can't run away either... Not good at all.
Yeah, but somehow I think Tokyo Rose will be less than IMPRESSED with that reason if something happens to Galina. And something IS happening to Galina, I mean just having jerkwad show up isn't doing Galina's peace of mind any good. :-p
I suspect that even Dr. Granger isn't stupid enough to do physical harm to Galina, knowing how interested higher ranking people are in her, it would be bad .. for him .. to do anything.
That said, he can certainly have an opinion about her .. and he's probably gonna be an ass and share his opinion with her as well, much as she would rather that he didn't.
Just his presence might cause her harm. I imagine her flight or fight is going to kick in from the stress, Sheela. And Galina is in NO condition to do either. But she might harm herself trying.
Bet he was the personality model for the Reapers. Also bet his DNA is what douchebag is descended from. He must be efficient but I still hear the echo's of one of his ancestors," Schutt Up Already,Chust hold der basin still und catch der blood ve vill be putting it back in him, if dis vun lives."
Ordinary strands composing 'hair' wouldn't react to UV light, Cat. They don't have anything to fluorescence in all likelihood.
Also (under current technology) any strands that DO change colors under UV are a pale white, not black. Someone may have licked the problem of the material needing to be pale white. Still while it is possible, I doubt that is the right answer. :-)
I think she is 'programmed' so that she can't do violence, Hornet. We KNOW she can't handle weapons. Galina damn near got fried when she picked up a gun
Now MAY on the other hand might be a 10th Dan in Karate for all we know. The Doctor might find out how to fly without wings. :-D
With above average precision and speed, she could poke out both his eyes before he could even move, and the eyes could be replaced, so it would be a non-lethal way of defence that she could probably get away with.
I assume her physical strength is above the norm for unaugmented humans, so she should ask to hold his hands ... and not let go until friends of hers arrive.
Galina is also apparently stronger than one would expect from her size and build (at least Rainer was surprised by her strength). She wasn't built to be Commander Data, but to be the daughter that Torfirm Kotko lost. :-)
So, considering she'd have a pretty good chance of getting the obnoxious doctor by surprise as well, she really could poke his eyes out as a defensive act.
Only if he gets REALLY close to her, she is kind of anchored to the spot right now, Sheela. Can't extend too far. Now having said that, I fully expect the obnoxious one to invade her personal space, I mean she is just a machine after all... they don't have personal space, right? :-p
Indeed, the obnoxious ones always do that.
That's why they're obnoxious.
I still hold that he's smart enough to know that some very high ranking people have taken an interest in Galina and won't hurt her purely out of self preservation.
Alternatively they could put EDICT on guard ... hrmm ... I wonder what happened to him, we haven't seen him in ... well, since forever.
I'm not as convinced the obnoxious one will THINK about that, Sheela. How can you hurt a coffee maker? I mean it is a machine, so I can poke on it and try to open it up and it should NOT care... That is where Granger is coming from, I think.
I guess we will wait and see, but the fact he has his own design with him bodes poorly for Galina in this encounter I fear. :-7 I'm afraid he is going to want to tear into Galina and do a comparison with his own design.
As for Edict, yes we haven't seen him in a while. Unfortunately, I fear while he is loyal, he would be limited to what he could do to AUTHORIZED personnel. So Granger could tell him to stand down and he would have to. We need the Captain to show back up and put a couple bullets into Granger, somewhere in his over inflated ego. :-D
I'm not saying he wouldn't want to hurt HER, I'm saying he doesn't want to hurt HIMSELF. And if he hurts/breaks/touches Galina inapporpiately, people of high rank will come down on him like a ton of bricks - And he does not want that. Heck, just imagine what Tokyo Rose would do to him ? I bet it would involve maintenance bots with large strap-ons, sodomizing him for weeks.
TL;DR:
He does not care about Galina, but he does not want to mess with the high ranking people who protects her. Self-Preservation at it's finest.
I guess I'm wondering if he thinks there is anyone HIGHER ranking then himself where androids are concerned. If he is that arrogant, he could find out how imaginative Tokyo Rose truly is. Not that her vengeance will save Galina from this encounter. :-p
Yes well, Rose did the whole "cough if I'm clear" bit on the captain, so it's quite possible that some security measures have been put in place that even he has to respect.
Not without adult supervision, Sheela. He might be 'qualified' to do the job, but I wouldn't trust him to not violate Galina's rights without someone to keep him on a leash.
Alternatively, I'm not sure Granger is that much better than Jet would be. Wouldn't be the FIRST time someone with the title was leaning on an assistant that had already surpassed them. :-)
Oh for sure, Skills != a caring/moral/ethical person.
As far as Jet being better, I doubt it.
Jet's a skilled guy, for sure, but he hasn't had several years in his chosen field to hone his skills and in the matter of handling very advanced machines/equipment/biologicals, experience *do* matter a whole lot.
I have a full telecommunications education + extra courses, plus several years of experience and you'd be surprised at the kind of mistakes I see people who just came out of basic training will do. Even in areas where they should be perfectly proficient, they still make faults aplenty.
I've also seen it lead to the 'experienced' individual to fall in love with a pet theory and then try to make the facts fit their preconceived notion. Whereas someone without the experience can approach it without any preconceptions and see a truer picture of the situation.
Guess we will see what Granger actually does shortly. :-)
@Stormwind13.. True what you say, IN my work we Bomgar into PC's and work remotely. But before that we have them reboot and 90 % of the time it fixes the issue. Sometimes simple is enough to fix it.
Ah yes, the pet theory trap is a nasty one.
Same with people who have been working for 30+ years can have a hard time adjusting to new tech and keep thinking in "old tech" ways.
However, an old experienced techie that *doesn't* fall into those traps, and keeps up with new tech, is a force to behold once he gets "in the zone" and really gets down to brass tacks!
Oh hey now, nothing wrong with old technology in the future .. heck, the Wheel is an ancient invention and it's still onf of the best transport solution we know of.
Heck, take the ancient viking long ships, a replica of one of those is among the top ten fastest ships in the world in it's size class - Those things were FAST !
True, though it is hearsay from people with both rank and experience, they're usually not the kind to run around like headless chickens and spread baseless rumors.
But sure, he has the opportunity to redeem his reputation by being better than the rumors say he is. HEck, even with an abrasive personality, he could still be perfectly professional and withold judgement until he has all his facts straight.
Then again, he might not.
Time will tell, I guess.
First, a mere student comes wandering in and now Dr. Granger (who was told to stay away) and his android?
I say, when she gets back, Captain Yukimura should immediately replace whoever she had posted to guard the door with someone trustworthy and detain the current one(s) into the nearest cell block for dereliction of duty!
And if the Captain did NOT station someone to guard the door or at least monitor from security cameras to alert her, then shame on her.
If Captain Yukimura had the foresight to instruct Dr. Granger that he was not to approch Gali, she should have forseen this. She could have told the guard to immediately alert her if anyone - or a certain someone - tried to get in.
I'm reminded of those guards in DC in the Black Palace, whom the Prince told to take a hike. Kali was none to pleased with how it was handled...
...but since Galina is the first one that cannot be. :)
I wonder if dr. granger just had a bad day or if he always is that rough.
*hugs May, Galina and Amy*
Later DC Andriods follow more Galina's Pattern than Amy's ( whos suppose to have black hair )
Poor Galina's WORST nightmare, Dr. Granger. Dragging Galina's SECOND worst nightmare with him, the robot girl. And she can't run away either... Not good at all.

Please please please Galina don't let May leave, for your own safety...
Is anyone other than me not seeing the TWC vote button?
Now, you MIGHT be onto something about Douchebag though. :-)
I believe she just was trying out a new hair color...
PS: a happy new year to all
*HUGS* It is okay CentComm. Not a big deal. We still want to read your and Rose's comics. :-)
She is just standing under the germicidal ultraviolet entry lights.

I was of the impression that she was a bit faster / dextorous ?
That's why they're obnoxious.
I still hold that he's smart enough to know that some very high ranking people have taken an interest in Galina and won't hurt her purely out of self preservation.

Weirdly, in a grotesque twist of fate, he's probably the most qualified person on the base to be diggin' around inside Galina. technically speaking.
Alternatively, I'm not sure Granger is that much better than Jet would be. Wouldn't be the FIRST time someone with the title was leaning on an assistant that had already surpassed them. :-)

Experience counts for a lot and a lot.

I claim "Way of speech" excuse here !
That said, brass tacks are literally still used in some places, in the exact way that the idiom originated.
Heck, take the ancient viking long ships, a replica of one of those is among the top ten fastest ships in the world in it's size class - Those things were FAST !
Old != Outdated
[I'd also like to point out that Galina's opinion of the perhaps 'not so good doctor' is based entirely on hearsay.]
But sure, he has the opportunity to redeem his reputation by being better than the rumors say he is. HEck, even with an abrasive personality, he could still be perfectly professional and withold judgement until he has all his facts straight.
