Yes it does. And that is pretty nice layout you had there too, CentComm. Great job on putting on a good display. Hope you gain some new readers. :-)

Not the usual weekend for the hotel staff.
Centcomm 15th Jan 2014, 7:20 PM edit delete reply

Nope the marriot wasnt exactly perfect but it worked..

It is rare for a hotel to be perfect for a Con. Some are better than others though. Some are HORRID, lots of small rooms, weird hallways so hard to fit anything meaningful into them.

They pulled Archon from Collinsville because they changed their alcohol policy. They moved it to Westport. Nice area, lots of stuff around... and the space was horrid. They had to split up the dealers room into two locations because they didn't have a single space big enough to hold them. And the hallway to one of those rooms was TINY. Collinsville took a big hit though from losing the business Archon brought in. So changed their policy BACK so that Archon would come back. :-D Much better space there. :-)

Never is when a "Con" is in. A convention such a business or industry might hold is 'Ho hum. Business as usual' for staff. I have attended 6 Tekkoshocon anime Cons and one Anthrocon. It is easy to identify the staff that have been hired since the last time the Con was there.

I've been to more Cons than I can easily count (I ran out of fingers and toes! :-D) and it is always a hoot to see how the hotel staffs handle it. From Milwaukee to St. Louis to Indianapolis to Atlanta to Tucson to San Diego, you could always tell the ones that hadn't seen a con before. I don't do costumes, so I looked 'safe', so I would always get some of the newbie staff sliding up and going "WHAT IS THAT?!?" at some costume or another. :-D

I do have to say Comic-Con though had the most that WERE ready, and boy did they NEED to be. That was a ZOO. More people there than lived in the town I grew up in! Well in excess of 100K. :-) Fun once, but not in a hurry to go back, it was TOO big unless you had an army to camp things you couldn't get into any of the panels. Lines were hours long. :-p GREAT costumes though, wish I had taken a better camera.

Dragoncon was the biggest ive ever been to in 2003 and 2004 :D fun times - got to meet Joe Linsner of Dawn Fame..
Stormwind13 15th Jan 2014, 7:49 PM edit delete reply

DragonCon is great. I've got a Con shirt with that character on it (Dawn) from 2009. Only been a couple times, was trying to get where Anne McCaffrey was going to be. Unfortunately, she was unable to attend and now she is attending a Celestial Gathering forevermore.

I have a dawn shirt and some artwork he did .. as well as a full sized replica Sword from Return of the goddess that me and a friend made and Linsner signed off on as accurate :D

Looks like you enjoyed it.
Centcomm 15th Jan 2014, 7:28 PM edit delete reply

I did enjoy myself save for the lack of sleep and food ( money was VERY tight over the con )

I would have liked to seen the owl there. That looks really interesting. And unusual. The costumes there are pretty well done, but I've seen enough of them that they don't register the way a live owl does! :-D

That K9 unit looks REALLY familiar, I'm wondering if it was the same one that was at Archon. :-D Sure LOOKS the same, though I imagine those with the talents for things like that are going to do a similar good job on replicating the prop. Did it motor around? The one at Archon was remote controlled. :-)

the owl was AWESOME!

Argh, I missed that update :(

I wonder how I skipped over it...

It seems like you enjoyed it, though :)
Stormwind13 15th Jan 2014, 7:58 PM edit delete reply

CentComm did the DarkCon picture update during the day and then came back with the regular Luna Star page update in the evening (I think it was a little early even). So she was trying to keep you in the DARK, mjkj. :-D
