Yay Amy! ::HUGS::
Centcomm 13th Feb 2014, 12:07 AM edit delete reply

hehe yeah Amy has some surprises :D
Stormwind13 13th Feb 2014, 12:02 AM edit delete reply

Granger just discovered he doesn't know NEAR as much as he thought he did. Enjoy being dropped a peg or ten, Doctor! :-p
Centcomm 13th Feb 2014, 12:08 AM edit delete reply

Yep .. wait for it...
Sheela 13th Feb 2014, 3:17 AM edit delete reply

It's not so much a matter of knowledge here, he probably have more knowledge than all the rest of them combined (a company would not send a brandnew robot to someone else unless he was *good* a what he does), but rather of keeping an open mind.

Which he failed to.
Centcomm 13th Feb 2014, 9:34 PM edit delete reply

Granger is very very good.. and proably taught jet most of what he knows about robotics.. just wait for it :D
Sheela 14th Feb 2014, 3:19 PM edit delete reply

Yeah. But he missed his big chance and he's finally realizing why.

We all think we'll be able to see and recognize the golden opportunity, when it comes and knocks on our door, but just as often we don't notice it because we are too caught up in our own little universe.

And we'll curse ourselves for the missed opportunity until we kick the bucket!
Dragonrider 13th Feb 2014, 12:06 AM edit delete reply

He may just get to enjoy a one way ticket back to earth out of this. If Rose doesn't have her way with him. Rose has anything to do with the disposition of his case it will be a disposition to the organ donor banks. With organs donated pre-termination of life forces and without the use of anesthetics. Due to the reuse of the organs I doubt she would have a rusty buck knife used, if one could even be found on Luna.
Dragonrider 13th Feb 2014, 12:36 AM edit delete reply

Problem with these DDOS attacks is that the malware is planted of thousands of computers and even after the main source of the attack is shut out there are still pockets of computers linked that are still trying to run the attack and they are enough to slow everything down. Has any reason for the attack been determined?
Centcomm 13th Feb 2014, 12:45 AM edit delete reply

it hasnt been stated .. or CF doesnt know.. it was not aimed at CF just the host..
Dragonrider 13th Feb 2014, 1:24 AM edit delete reply

Lets hope it was just someone playing around, not a dress rehearsal for a larger event.
Fairportfan 13th Feb 2014, 3:18 AM edit delete reply

DDOS? Is that why i couldn't access Datachasers yesterday?
Sheela 13th Feb 2014, 3:20 AM edit delete reply

It's been funky today as well, so the attack may not be quite over yet.
Centcomm 13th Feb 2014, 9:34 PM edit delete reply

yep still off today .. still getting time outs and such
pkrankow 14th Feb 2014, 2:18 AM edit delete reply

Interesting, I have been having connection headaches for months, since about the time drunk duck went down...
Centcomm 15th Feb 2014, 5:59 PM edit delete reply

not sure if thats connected :D
Sheela 16th Feb 2014, 1:42 PM edit delete reply

Don't think so, Comic Fury has been running perfectly for me until the DDOS happened.

Running pretty damn fine now too.
Seems they got the better of the spammer. :)
jamie59 13th Feb 2014, 12:48 AM edit delete reply

Is Granger having second thoughts? Maybe he's starting to see her as human.
Dragonrider 13th Feb 2014, 12:59 AM edit delete reply

I think the shock is of the ,"OH SHIT!!! I screwed the pooch big damn time. I am may not live through this." However I think his real shock is yet to come. Bet Rose has charges of attempted murder, premeditated 1 count attempted murder, non premeditated 1 count.
Sheela 13th Feb 2014, 3:16 AM edit delete reply

I think it's more a case of him finally realising how unique she is.
She's basically everything he has always dreamed of making.

In many ways, I feel sorry for the doctor, this could have been his chance to be a big damn hero, but he was too narrowminded himself and fell into bad habits, thus putting him in his current situation where he's the vilified villain.

And he deserved it.
That gotta sting!
velvetsanity 13th Feb 2014, 5:17 AM edit delete reply

I'm with Sheela on this. He's realizing that she's *not* malfunctioning, and is fully sapient.

And half the shock is that her bedside manner is orders of magnitude better than his. :D
Stormwind13 13th Feb 2014, 8:28 PM edit delete reply

I think the interaction between Amy and Galina has floored him. I mean, they are MACHINES, they shouldn't be able to react that way! He didn't program that into Amy but she initiated that interaction.

And velvet, LOL. I've had stuffed animals with better bedside manners than Dickface there. :-D
Centcomm 13th Feb 2014, 9:35 PM edit delete reply

nail .. you are getting close.. :D
Mayyday 13th Feb 2014, 1:58 AM edit delete reply

Well at least they got the thingy fixed now...
Centcomm 13th Feb 2014, 9:35 PM edit delete reply

yep its ... kinda sorta fixed?
velvetsanity 14th Feb 2014, 10:36 AM edit delete reply

progress is made on the fixing of the thingy!

Tokyo Rose 17th Feb 2014, 7:12 PM edit delete reply

Nerd level over 9000!

(The Tamarian language is exactly like speaking in memes, or at least in tropes, I swear. :D)
Fairportfan 13th Feb 2014, 3:17 AM edit delete reply

I like the reflections in her nails.
Centcomm 13th Feb 2014, 9:36 PM edit delete reply

her nails are really .. really shiny :D
mjkj 14th Feb 2014, 5:44 PM edit delete reply

Indeed they are... :)
mjkj 13th Feb 2014, 3:41 AM edit delete reply

Wow, Amy is good...

I am glad, Galina is able to think again.

*hugs Amy, Galina and May*

I hope the operation will be successful.

PS: If Amy is just on *loan*, how and why could dr creep there use her "that" way?
velvetsanity 13th Feb 2014, 5:10 AM edit delete reply

You said it yourself, mjkj: "dr creep"
Centcomm 13th Feb 2014, 9:36 PM edit delete reply

easy.. not that her personally used her but its ONE of her purposes.. :D
Tokyo Rose 14th Feb 2014, 7:50 PM edit delete reply

I assume mjkj means "how and why did he use her as an assistant", and the answer is "because she's supposed to follow directions precisely". He'd have brought Jet, except Jet's busy somewhere else; Amy was just the nearest and most useful potential assistant.

(And while it IS one of her intended functions, no, Granger hasn't used her as a sexbot. Despite the fact that emergency-room records prove that men will, in fact, stick their dicks in pretty much anything, Granger's one of those pure-science dudes who channels ALL of his attention into his work. This is the kind of guy who might jerk off once a week at most with all the passion and intensity of clipping his toenails.)
velvetsanity 16th Feb 2014, 11:24 AM edit delete reply

Jet might have killed him in protecting Galina...
cattservant 13th Feb 2014, 4:42 AM edit delete reply

Amy's 'loan' may become permanent. What with the 'current situation' back on earth!
velvetsanity 13th Feb 2014, 5:10 AM edit delete reply

Especially if Rose negotiates with and "hires" her, the negotiations to assure Amy's willing cooperation and followed by purchasing her outright from Humanadyne. (Included in the negotiations would be an acceptable cover story specifically to keep Rose's name out of things.)

Wonder if Rose will send Jet a christmas present after this... :D
cattservant 13th Feb 2014, 5:25 AM edit delete reply

I think we are seeing the first early coalescing of of Luna-Com here.
velvetsanity 13th Feb 2014, 7:13 PM edit delete reply

Maybe, but at this point, it's far far too early to be sure
cattservant 13th Feb 2014, 9:01 PM edit delete reply

At least the ingredients are on the counter.
Sheela 13th Feb 2014, 9:08 PM edit delete reply

I suspect that Rose will buy Amy outright and then declare her her own owner of herself and alive and sentient.

And then send her with Galina (possibly as her bodyguard) on her mission to talk to the aliens.
cattservant 13th Feb 2014, 9:39 PM edit delete reply

I got the impression that the mission to Saturn was urgently scheduled.
Galina will probably still be convalescing so she will need a nurse. Edict would make a more impressive body guard.
Centcomm 13th Feb 2014, 9:37 PM edit delete reply

we shall see :D also Kiku has already been slated as galina's body guard and protector from here on out.
cattservant 13th Feb 2014, 9:41 PM edit delete reply

We've already seen that the Captain needs 'staff'!
Stormwind13 13th Feb 2014, 10:41 PM edit delete reply

And Loyal and Trustworthy staff at that, Cat. I think it would be an excellent idea myself. Unfortunately, I don't actually get any say in the decision. :-D
Sheela 14th Feb 2014, 3:24 PM edit delete reply

Kiku is only human though, and need to sleep.

Both EDICT and Amy are able to stay awake for prolonged periods of time, which makes them both excellent body guards.

Besides, a cutie like Galina could have more than one bodyguard/nurse/helper.
mjkj 14th Feb 2014, 5:49 PM edit delete reply

So true, Sheela. I think Edict and Amy should accompany Galina and Captain Kiku :)
Stormwind13 14th Feb 2014, 7:09 PM edit delete reply

I vote for Kiku (being in charge), Edict and Amy to assist Kiku in guarding/nursing Galina and May to make a record of it all (as well as just being a friend for Galina). I wouldn't object to tossing Jet on-board either. That would do WONDERS for Galina's morale I think. :-)
Centcomm 15th Feb 2014, 6:00 PM edit delete reply

hehe.. the crew has not been revealed yet .. the only two that are confirmed is Kiku and Galina.. :D
mjkj 15th Feb 2014, 7:21 PM edit delete reply

So we still can hope May, Edict and Amy will join them :)
Sheela 16th Feb 2014, 1:44 PM edit delete reply

To be fair, they do seem to be fairly obvious shoe-in's at this point.

Offcourse, we, the readers, are perfectly up to date already. The people who's handling the project are not all up to speed yet.

But I suspect that Rose might help them with that.
mjkj 16th Feb 2014, 8:09 PM edit delete reply

Oh, they have shoes? gnawed on ones I guess... ;)
Sheela 17th Feb 2014, 3:13 PM edit delete reply

Mayyybe. ;D
Dragonrider 14th Feb 2014, 1:00 AM edit delete reply

BTW Would it be safe to assume that when one enters Tokyo Rose's employment it is required you take a course in 20th and 21st century slang, pop culture, music, U-Tube and movie references?
Centcomm 14th Feb 2014, 2:10 PM edit delete reply

Oh hell yes :D
Stormwind13 14th Feb 2014, 7:04 PM edit delete reply

Wasn't sure if it was required, or just wise if you want to stay at a level of insanity that won't get you locked up. :-D
Tokyo Rose 14th Feb 2014, 7:52 PM edit delete reply

It's either that, or you get used to being the one person who doesn't get the joke. ALL. THE. TIME.
Hornet 14th Feb 2014, 10:41 AM edit delete reply
Robots are not supposed to express compassion. Or any other emotions for that matter. So for Granger this can not be happening.
Centcomm 14th Feb 2014, 2:11 PM edit delete reply

Well Amy is SUPPOSE to show some emotions but they have been unable to get her too .. this is ALL new for them.. and bingo Granger is FLOORED by the events :D
Don B. 14th Feb 2014, 2:13 PM edit delete reply
I'm hoping Amy will still be around after this. I'd like to see her personality develop over time. I don't think that she had one programmed from the start like Ceci did.
Sheela 14th Feb 2014, 3:26 PM edit delete reply

I think that's safe to assume.

Any programmed personality would be extremely basic, at any rate.
Centcomm 14th Feb 2014, 6:10 PM edit delete reply

Correct .. her personality can go any direction at this point :D
Sheela 14th Feb 2014, 7:02 PM edit delete reply

Not .. *any* direction though.

She's already shown to be compassionate of Galina, that's a fairly solid personality trait right there already. So she's probably not going to be the completely uncaring bastard laughing softly from the corner.

... not that *I* ever do that ...

*shifty eyes*

Stormwind13 14th Feb 2014, 7:05 PM edit delete reply

No, Sheela. I can't see you not caring. Now laughing in the corner... maybe. Quietly, HIGHLY unlikely. :-D
Dragonrider 15th Feb 2014, 12:44 AM edit delete reply

Cackling hysterically yes, laughing quietly never.
Stormwind13 15th Feb 2014, 12:58 AM edit delete reply

Didn't picture Sheela, cackling Dragonrider. More like HOWLING with laughter. :-D
Don B. 15th Feb 2014, 3:21 AM edit delete reply
She certainly is starting off in a promising manner. Compassionate, protective, polite and able to actually use her intelligence. Very promising considering that she's just sparked without a personality template.
Sheela 15th Feb 2014, 7:47 AM edit delete reply

Cackling loudly is difficult while chewing on a pound of flesh. >:)
Centcomm 15th Feb 2014, 6:01 PM edit delete reply

Sheela 16th Feb 2014, 1:45 PM edit delete reply

Aw, but you can just use two bodies and do both at the same time - That's totally cheating!
Centcomm 15th Feb 2014, 6:01 PM edit delete reply

yep that she is.. :D
Hornet 17th Feb 2014, 12:22 AM edit delete reply
Yet still able to break bones when the need arises. Yes, she is the template for Kali.
Sheela 18th Feb 2014, 1:51 AM edit delete reply

For all we know, she might *be* Kali.
Tokyo Rose 18th Feb 2014, 2:01 AM edit delete reply

No, Amy is not Kali. :D
Caley Tibbittz Collopy 16th Mar 2014, 2:22 AM edit delete reply

The framing of that last shot is something I wish I'd come up with because it's insanely great. It's like an iconic movie shot.
HiFranc 17th Apr 2015, 4:25 AM edit delete reply

I think this should be Doctor Granger's theme song:
xpacetrue 23rd Jun 2015, 6:57 AM edit delete reply

Amy has pretty good bedside manners for an early (prototype?) android. And she was just sparked, at that.
