Tokyo Rose
Anyone who has ever been to college, or even been around a college professor long enough, will recognize exactly the tone, emphasis, and inflection used in the phrase "MISTER Granger!"

Is that concrete I hear bubbling from the acid in Rose's tone melting it? :-D I hope she makes Granger bleed out of his ears. :-)
Centcomm 20th Feb 2014, 12:01 PM edit delete reply

oh most likely .. :D
cattservant 20th Feb 2014, 12:49 AM edit delete reply

Tokyo Rose is the ubiquitous Empress of Aliases!
Stormwind13 20th Feb 2014, 12:51 AM edit delete reply

Mr. Black has some competition for controlling the vote. I mean, how many aliases does Tokyo Rose have compared to Mr. Black? :-D
cattservant 20th Feb 2014, 12:55 AM edit delete reply

Pretty sure she's got a substantial head start on him.
Alexander the So So 20th Feb 2014, 9:33 AM edit delete reply
does it count as an alias if it's just the same thing in another language? akai bara is red roses, iirc.
Tokyo Rose 20th Feb 2014, 11:53 AM edit delete reply

*whistle*
Centcomm 20th Feb 2014, 12:02 PM edit delete reply

ok thats funny .. I happen to know "Rose" the writer here - just pulled the name from "somewhere" shes going to laugh.
Tokyo Rose 20th Feb 2014, 9:50 PM edit delete reply

I could swear I told you that Akaibara literally does mean "red rose". I didn't pull it out of nowhere, it was an intentional joke :D
Tokyo Rose 20th Feb 2014, 11:53 AM edit delete reply

Between the two of us, we may count as "everyone in the world".
Stormwind13 20th Feb 2014, 6:53 PM edit delete reply

LOL. Rose and Mr. Black populating the world with their different personas. :-D

"There can be only one..." So, who will win the battle for ultimate control of the world? :-D
Centcomm 20th Feb 2014, 12:02 PM edit delete reply

yep.. that she is
Sheela 21st Feb 2014, 6:54 AM edit delete reply

Well, obviously since "there can be only one", it will turn out that Rose is actually just masquerading as Mr. Black, and that this entire world is actually played out by AIS dolls, by an insane AIS that has *severe* multiple personality disorders.

The insane AIS calls itself Tokyo Rose ... and Centcomm .. and Deep Blue ... etc. etc.

There we go .. I have now offended *everyone* ... including the one and only !
Stormwind13 22nd Feb 2014, 1:31 PM edit delete reply

LOL Sheela. Interesting thought there. But doesn't that mean if there is only one that you are ALSO a part of it? :-D
Sheela 22nd Feb 2014, 3:10 PM edit delete reply

... mayybe ... :D

I'm not in the comic, after all, and I was thinking about "in comic universe" wise.
cattservant 24th Feb 2014, 12:27 AM edit delete reply

Consider the 4TH Wall
And what it divides/delineates...
Alexander the So So 23rd Feb 2014, 2:36 AM edit delete reply
thats WAY too complex. Its all a simulation being run inside a single ai's mind.
Sheela 24th Feb 2014, 10:52 AM edit delete reply

Pfft, the 4th wall is less important than the backwall.
Gotta have something to stop the characters from falling into the void, right?
Computant 20th Aug 2016, 7:54 PM edit delete reply
A friend and I were once considering the reincarnation theory in religion.
Postulate one: since reincarnation allows basically no information transfer, it is not limited to traveling forward in time (you could be reincarnated in the 12th century or the 32nd).
Postulate two: Given postulate one, the number of souls required drops dramatically, potentially to one.
In other words, perhaps nirvana is the final form of the soul we all share, reincarnating over and over to produce all of human existence and thus become more complex.
At which point my friend pointed out that if we are all the same person, every time he jacks off he is having sex with both Claudia Schiffer and Mother Teresa. Sigh...
Dragonrider 20th Feb 2014, 12:51 AM edit delete reply

From the language and tone I assume this is another of Rose's persona. Whoopee Doc Numbnuts just got his ass handed to him in a rusty Spam can.
Centcomm 20th Feb 2014, 12:03 PM edit delete reply

yeah thats pretty much what happened...
cattservant 20th Feb 2014, 12:54 AM edit delete reply

A very nice dual track page tonight too!
The authartistor and the artauthorist should recieve our approbations!
Centcomm 20th Feb 2014, 12:03 PM edit delete reply

well rose takes the credit for the dual track .. i thought that was awesome !
Stormwind13 20th Feb 2014, 11:50 PM edit delete reply

It was busy, but very interesting on how things were weaved together. Good job, Rose. :-)
dpallee 20th Feb 2014, 1:00 AM edit delete reply

Love the fourth panel-great layout and color.
Centcomm 20th Feb 2014, 12:04 PM edit delete reply

thank you :D
Dragonrider 20th Feb 2014, 1:26 AM edit delete reply

Apparently Shinedo Corp moved from Zhejiang, China to Japan and expanded their production facilities into the AIS business.
jamie59 20th Feb 2014, 1:28 AM edit delete reply

Did Galina do something to Amy to allow her to do what she has/is doing.
Still loving Rose's tirade.
Tokyo Rose 20th Feb 2014, 11:54 AM edit delete reply

If you mean Amy sparking, nope, that wasn't Galina. If you mean Amy futzing with electricity, it's a built-in thing.
jamie59 20th Feb 2014, 11:21 PM edit delete reply

I ment her independent behaviour. I assume most androids have some controlable internal electricity. Amy more so just for movement.
Centcomm 23rd Feb 2014, 6:49 PM edit delete reply

that will be explained .. no spoilers :D
talantus 20th Feb 2014, 1:55 AM edit delete reply
huh.. granger is referring to tokyo rose as professor... waitaminite does that mean that rose actually taught him what he knows? jesus, just how old is tokyo, actually nevermind don't answer that.

still if my assumption is right and he was at some point under the tutelage of rose then he can't be that bad? as cent said yesterday, there are gray. i'm liking this more and more ^-^
talantus 20th Feb 2014, 1:56 AM edit delete reply
p.s

i made a fanart a few weeks ago, its still not up on the site. is it still going to be put up? if not i can try and make a better one, i believe my art has significantly improved since then ^-^
Centcomm 20th Feb 2014, 2:38 AM edit delete reply

havent had time to respond to all the comments but ill say this on the fanarts - im way behind on pages so I havent gotten to put it up yet sorry >_< I have it saved :)
Fairportfan 20th Feb 2014, 2:44 AM edit delete reply

Do they have faster-than-light comms?

Time lag Earth-to-Luna/Luna-to-Earth round-trip is three seconds at lightspeed.
Tokyo Rose 20th Feb 2014, 11:58 AM edit delete reply

A few pages back, when contact was first made, we did indicate that there's an appropriate signal delay.
hoppy 20th Feb 2014, 10:24 PM edit delete reply
Rose has a locally run expert system actually doing the conversing; It isn't like the conversation is that involved.
Centcomm 21st Feb 2014, 5:45 AM edit delete reply

point..
Centcomm 21st Feb 2014, 5:46 AM edit delete reply

I actually tested this even with the delay of 3 seconds its possable to have a conversation .. it just requires dramatic pauses :D
mjkj 20th Feb 2014, 4:41 AM edit delete reply

Yayyyy :D

*approves of the chewing out of granger*

Wow, Amy really is a hero...

So, it is professor Rose now? Rose Akaibara...

...and granger was her student - but obviously she did not chew him out enough, then...

Wow Rose really is angry - using even double contractions ... but she is easily distracted when granger switched topic to Amy, she follows immediately.

Great update - thank you, CentComm, Rose.

*hugs Amy, May and, cautiously, Galina*

Tokyo Rose 20th Feb 2014, 11:56 AM edit delete reply

When you have a whole lot of time on your hands, creating an identity as a professor and trying to enlighten the marginally dim is, at least, diverting.
mjkj 20th Feb 2014, 8:36 PM edit delete reply

Yeah, some diversion is always good :)

...and bettering the world is a good side effect :)
Centcomm 21st Feb 2014, 5:45 AM edit delete reply

you are very welcome MJKJ glad having you here too! :D
Quieteyes 20th Feb 2014, 8:11 AM edit delete reply
So, Rose...berserking combat drone?
Tokyo Rose 20th Feb 2014, 11:57 AM edit delete reply

IT WAS AN ELECTRICAL SHORT!!!!
Stormwind13 20th Feb 2014, 6:55 PM edit delete reply

And that's your story and your sticking too it! :-D

Now was it some young idiot that thought they could control said combat drone and screwed up in a spectacular way? Or was it just a random accident? :-)
Tokyo Rose 20th Feb 2014, 9:51 PM edit delete reply

ELECTRICAL!!! SHORT!!!
Dragonrider 20th Feb 2014, 10:23 PM edit delete reply

Like cross wired synapse's in the fire control module telling it that every living breathing individual was a threat level alpha? Therefore legitimate targets for termination with extreme prejudice fortunately the weapon magazine was empty so body count limited to injuries?
Centcomm 21st Feb 2014, 5:44 AM edit delete reply

pretty much >:D
Sheela 21st Feb 2014, 1:11 PM edit delete reply

I still think it was actually a prank played by Tokyo Rose.
Stormwind13 21st Feb 2014, 2:22 PM edit delete reply

Testing the students with real world situations under a stress filled scenario, Sheela? I could see Rose doing that. :-D
velvetsanity 21st Feb 2014, 4:17 PM edit delete reply

So, Rose, what was a combat drone that was so poorly maintained as to have an electrical short resulting in dangerous behavior doing in a classroom full of students in the first place? :D
Tokyo Rose 21st Feb 2014, 8:50 PM edit delete reply

Newly recovered from a former combat zone. Things had been living in it and had been evicted. Diagnostics came up clean. Diagnostics did not indicate that certain organic debris had not been cleared out completely. It is truly remarkable what a stray turd can do if it falls into the wrong place.
Quieteyes 22nd Feb 2014, 10:45 AM edit delete reply
It wouldn't have happened to hit a cooling fan first, would it? Somehow, that would seem appropriate. :-D
Sheela 22nd Feb 2014, 3:13 PM edit delete reply

Not sure if I believe in the 'Electrical Short' apology, it's too convenient.

... yes, we're looking at you, Rose!
Alexander the So So 23rd Feb 2014, 2:38 AM edit delete reply
beat me to the joke. Crappy joke, but I defecately would have made it.
Sheela 20th Feb 2014, 11:36 AM edit delete reply

I find it interesting that what is happening to Amy has happened before !
Centcomm 20th Feb 2014, 12:06 PM edit delete reply

it is on the cusp of the robotics evolution they are JUST not gaining the complexity to actually begin self awareness,.
cattservant 21st Feb 2014, 3:25 AM edit delete reply

"...20 Quantum Cores..."
Dragonrider 20th Feb 2014, 1:54 PM edit delete reply

Sheela*I* find it interesting when it happened before it happened at Rose's (although not stated) "home" Laboratory. This tells me Rose is already full AIS while the rest of the major systems have the first or second stages of AIS but not fully developed, hmm.
mjkj 20th Feb 2014, 9:10 PM edit delete reply

I believe that might have been Galina sparking in said Shinedo lab.
Tokyo Rose 20th Feb 2014, 9:53 PM edit delete reply

Galina has enough human brain tissue and mental structure that she didn't have to "spark".
Centcomm 21st Feb 2014, 5:43 AM edit delete reply

Galina was built in Russia not japan :D ( although at this time period its JUST begun being called Shinado .. :D )
Tokyo Rose 21st Feb 2014, 8:47 PM edit delete reply

It's more of an informal nickname. It'll only *really* be "Shinedo" after all the wars . . .
Sheela 22nd Feb 2014, 1:24 AM edit delete reply

So what is the official name before 'Shinedo' ?
velvetsanity 24th Feb 2014, 2:55 AM edit delete reply

I'm guessing..."Japan" :D
mjkj 23rd Feb 2014, 6:39 PM edit delete reply

@Cent: And? If she was built in Russia - she could have been brought to Shinedo and sparked there - though as Rose stated, she did not need to spark - now I am wondering who it was that sparked there...?
Centcomm 23rd Feb 2014, 6:48 PM edit delete reply

She never really sparked most of Galina's brain is human , matter of fact almost all of the parts that make her "Human" are cloned human tissue. ( Mind you Cloning is VERY illegal. ) SO they are just calling her a "hybrid" and useing the Machine angle to protect her. Its not the best soulution but its one that keeps her and others out of trouble. Rose doesnt give a damn about the laws...

But yes Galina was constructed on earth in moscow. in a high end Goverment lab - shes never been allowed to interact with the "public" in any form.
Vivocateur 20th Feb 2014, 1:57 PM edit delete reply

A berserking combat drone in the classroom?
Clearly she knows how to arrange an interesting lecture.
Stormwind13 20th Feb 2014, 6:57 PM edit delete reply

Yeah... interesting... Lectures are only interesting when there is a BODY count before the end of them. And a berserk combat drone might have provided that.
Centcomm 21st Feb 2014, 5:42 AM edit delete reply

yes she does... " and if everyone looks under thier desks they will find a live grenade everyone you have 10 min to disarm it .. have fun! * she ducks behind a blast shield ... students that fail will be blown up! "
Sheela 21st Feb 2014, 1:13 PM edit delete reply

To be a good student, all one has to do is dismantle the grenade and reattach it to the bottom of teachers chair.

... or was that BAD student ?
hrnn, I forget ... not that *I* ever did that!

*innocent smile*
*with lots of teeth*
mjkj 24th Feb 2014, 4:05 AM edit delete reply

Hmmm, Sheela, do you mean smiles like that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that or that?
Sheela 24th Feb 2014, 11:04 AM edit delete reply

@ mjkj > Something like that, yes.

image
mjkj 24th Feb 2014, 2:57 PM edit delete reply

Oh, Sheela, these look also nice :)
Centcomm 24th Feb 2014, 9:59 PM edit delete reply

thats creepy Sheela...
Sheela 25th Feb 2014, 3:27 PM edit delete reply

Creepy ?

But those are just big friendly smiles, look how cute they are! :D
Stormwind13 21st Feb 2014, 2:19 PM edit delete reply

One mistake there, CentComm... You are supposed to start to say that and then have the big ::KER-CHUNG:: as the heavy duty locks engage on the door so the students can't try to run. :-D
Centcomm 23rd Feb 2014, 6:44 PM edit delete reply

LOL -- o thats right! :D
Dragonrider 20th Feb 2014, 2:23 PM edit delete reply

Our Wordsmith Rose; She works in profanity in much the same way da Vinci worked in oil, clay and stone. It is her true medium and she is a Master Artist.
Stormwind13 20th Feb 2014, 6:58 PM edit delete reply

Take a bow, Rose. You have been recognized for your inventive use of language. :-D

I wholeheartedly agree with Dragonrider, you are a Master Artist with your words... and not just the four letter ones. :-D
Tokyo Rose 20th Feb 2014, 9:53 PM edit delete reply

/bow ^_^
cattservant 20th Feb 2014, 10:22 PM edit delete reply

Sailor Rose
On the Seas of
Possibility!
Centcomm 21st Feb 2014, 5:41 AM edit delete reply

oh I agree beyond a doubt !
Sheela 21st Feb 2014, 1:14 PM edit delete reply

*hands Rose some arrows*

CUPID !! :D
Stormwind13 21st Feb 2014, 2:17 PM edit delete reply

::Hides in TERROR:: What Rose would find... romantic... scares me silly (and I was already pretty silly to start with!!!) :-D With her twisted mind, I wouldn't want to be targeted with any amore arrows she was firing for sure!
Centcomm 21st Feb 2014, 3:46 PM edit delete reply

Nuclear arrows away -- dives for cover >_<
Stormwind13 21st Feb 2014, 10:39 PM edit delete reply

No, no. You are NOT permitted to hide if you are tossing that $hit around! Stand up and take your medicine for going there. :-)
Sheela 22nd Feb 2014, 1:25 AM edit delete reply

She didn't.
I did.

:D
Stormwind13 22nd Feb 2014, 2:09 AM edit delete reply

You gave Rose arrows, Sheela. CentComm went and pulled out the Broken Arrows. :-D I'm calling her on going nuclear and then trying to hide. :-)

Edited: And you are a BAD puppy (no doggie treats for YOU!!!) for giving Rose arrows, Sheela. I mean she is scary enough WITHOUT Cupid's arrows. Then CentComm had to raise the stakes and give her nuclear ones? Geez. :-D
cattservant 23rd Feb 2014, 11:16 PM edit delete reply

How about some 'slings' then?
Dragonrider 23rd Feb 2014, 11:51 PM edit delete reply

To be, or not to be: that is the question: Whether 'tis nobler in the mind to suffer The slings and arrows of outrageous fortune, Or to take Arms against a Sea of troubles, And by opposing end them?
cattservant 23rd Feb 2014, 11:55 PM edit delete reply

And that's a positively bifurcated outcome.
Either way you're free from them!
velvetsanity 24th Feb 2014, 2:54 AM edit delete reply

You gave her the bow, Stormwind. Sheela just provided the ammunition.
Sheela 24th Feb 2014, 11:06 AM edit delete reply

And I turned her into Cupid too!
Imagine the troubles she could wreck if she could decide whom you fell in love with ?

... and why did Prince Douchebag just fall in love with a steamroller ?
mjkj 24th Feb 2014, 2:58 PM edit delete reply

*lol* nice one, Sheela :D

I approve.
velvetsanity 24th Feb 2014, 3:22 PM edit delete reply

Is the steamroller's name Bessie? (Doc Hudson: "This here's Bessie. Finest road paving machine ever built.")
Stormwind13 24th Feb 2014, 5:21 PM edit delete reply

Yeah, that was NOT what I had in mind, velvet. Mine was just supposed to be an acknowledgement of Rose's work... not a weapon for her to torment us with!

The puppy is trying to get us all in trouble, Rose as Cupid... ::Shudders at the thought::
Centcomm 24th Feb 2014, 9:59 PM edit delete reply

be afriad.. be VERY afriad :D LOL
Sheela 25th Feb 2014, 3:26 PM edit delete reply

Oh, but you would be entertained too. :)
Phil 24th Feb 2014, 10:36 PM edit delete reply
hi, I just came over here from datachasers. Something surprising I noticed;
while datachasers loads Really, Really slowly on my old computer... lunastar loads quickly.
??
Centcomm 24th Feb 2014, 10:47 PM edit delete reply

Interesting ... They both use the same layout and same files.. thats wierd .. Might be server location >_<

( the server location that CF uses )

But welcome to the fun! I really hope you enjoy this too! :D
cattservant 25th Feb 2014, 1:13 AM edit delete reply

Maybe it's all the comments attached there to?
Phil 24th Feb 2014, 11:19 PM edit delete reply
I certainly enjoy it so far :)

An information update for you, though:

the OLDER ones are fast.
The newer ones, are just as slow as the datachaser ones :(

Centcomm 25th Feb 2014, 12:36 AM edit delete reply

Hmmm it might be the diffrence between photoshop variants .. I use CS6 and Rose uses PS7 im rather surprised theres a diffrence given how much she reduces it .. How odd..
Phil 25th Feb 2014, 3:20 PM edit delete reply
Maybe its *because* it is heavily heavily compressed?
(i didnt think this computer was *that* slow, that decompressing an image could take that long. but.. maybe?)

In a standalone viewer, it doesnt take quite as long.
In my poor old browser though (firefox 10, owch), it tends to slowly reveal, like a timelapse interlaced pic being rendered.

Dunno if it will help with my image rendering problem, but you might want to check out
http://developers.google.com/speed/pagespeed/insights/
It has some suggestions for your pages that I dont understand.

Sheela 25th Feb 2014, 3:49 PM edit delete reply

Maybe it's more a case of todays pages generally being bigger than old pages, such as the ones used in the Mockinbird chapter.

This can have an impact on computers with very little video-ram, or even shared main-memory/video-ram.

Thinking...

Thinking...

Thinking...

Professor Akaibara, a master class researcher and professor of Artificial Intelligence and Computer Systems and Software design, uses information gained from Galina Kotko, to uplift herself into the Infonet with dozens of hardware backups and agents spread throughout the entire connected world.

She has taken on a Guardian role of Humanity after also elevating her "children" Deep Blue, CentComm, the Shinedo Triplets, Aenaes, and others to full sentience to assist her in protecting Humanity and their newest Sentience "Android" Children and to usher them into a more perfect Creation.

Or, I could just be sleep deprived on my 4th go through of Luna Star. :)
