I fully agree with Gali in the last panel, a pinch normally means the needle is still white hot from being formed 2 seconds before they stuck it in. When the nurse ask me how I felt before my ByPass surgery I said scared S#!tless her comment was, Good that's one thing we won't have to worry about.
Yeah, CentComm is being EVIL and teasing us again mjkj. I mean, her TOMORROW isn't the same as everyone else's tomorrow. :-D
I'm pretty sure she meant next UPDATE, which should be tonight. I guess we can let her live for that mistake... Or do I see a gallery full of down-turned thumbs? :-D
:P of course I mean next "update" thats tonight at .. uh whatever time it posts.. its set top "midnight" whatever that means - I know it posts at 8pm here in Arizona USA - and Datachasers posts at 9pm MY time :D
The scary part about her acting like a fan girl is you can so easily picture her reaching out of the screen grabbing, and pulling you into the display where she suddenly has a whip and you end up handcuffed to a post for her daily bull whip practice. (And Hell no I don't want to try that.)
As Dr. Cooper mentioned on the previous page, the collar's blocking the deep pain; it's not doing much for anything in the skin layers.
Have you ever noticed that if you're paying attention to a shot, it hurts more? When I was a kid, my dentist never, ever let me SEE the syringe he was injecting the novocain with; he just said it was "a pinch", and I didn't know it was a needle, so I never freaked out and it didn't hurt much at all. After I realized it was, in fact, a needle, HOLY SHIT OW.
I've also found that when I have to have blood drawn, I notice the needle stick less if I'm focusing my attention elsewhere. It's impossible to completely ignore since I know it's coming, but if I'm not watching and if I'm talking/thinking about something else, it's not as bad.
They COULD use a little dab of something, but really, it's one quick needle poke. She's old enough to tough it out. ;)
also confimed on Rose - the collar is only blocking the "damage" by keying on very spicific impulses. Galina has to have almost general anesthetic to have the surgery done. they cant just "turn off" the pain. and the collar can not block - "sharp trama" that the surgery needs and in addition they HAVE to keep Galina calm and motionless. not having her freak out in the middle of micro-surgery.
Yeah, so true, Rose, I do not mind the needle in my arm or whatever - I just do not like the sticking it in part - and the anticipation of it...
*shudders*
I'm pretty much the same, Rose. If I can turn away and not look at what is coming I don't have the problem. They locked me and chair one time to keep me still though and I about passed out from hyperventilating. :-p After that I asked to lie down and it went MUCH better. Turn the head away, and it is over soon enough. And then I can run out of there (and DO).
I used to think that I was afraid of needles. Then I watched Cent get an IV line started in the emergency room, and realized that I just don't like needles. I had never seen a grown-ass adult react to the approach of an IV needle by turning white as paper, then start shaking and sweating with tears trickling out of their eyes.
Mind you, Cent was in the ER because of chest pains generated by a panic attack (vicious cycle: start panicking, chest tightens up, fear of heart attack, panic more, chest tightens up more, lather rinse repeat). THE NEEDLE WAS SCARIER.
I once dragged Cent to an ear-piercing place. The needles in use currently are basically hole punches--they outright remove a segment of flesh instead of just tearing through the way older piercings were done. Cent freaked out less about the ear-piercing than about an IV line, but explained it pretty logically: with IVs and syringes, the mind dwells on what harmful effects could be generated by something being put into or taken out of the bloodstream, but the piercing needles were just taking bits of skin away.
tl;dr: Needles are scary, but some are slightly less so. :D
ALl dead truth.. - now im going to go hide .. I managed to get though making this segment without thinking about any of that THANK YOU! >_< LOL
now mind you - actually working with needles and seeing them really does not bother me a whit. IE i was able to do this scene without a problem ) but the thought of the upcoming blood test scares me silly.. >_< I cant win.
I sometimes faint from needles, though not because I'm scared of them per se, but rather because it triggers my fight or flight instinct, and first instinct is to kill the bastard trying to hurt me with his damn needle ... but then, you can't attack your doctor, because then you're attacking yourself, so logically, I want to attack myself .. at which point my brain basically goes into an endless loop and after a while it sorta reboots me by fainting.
I don't have any problems with needles. Actually, doctors and nurses and the like tend to have more problems with me and needles than I have. Probably because I have a habit of watching with amusement as they stick me. It makes them nervous as all hell. One time, when donating blood, they had to stick me 5 times because they were so nervous. They tried both arms but never could hit the vein, so they gave up. (note: my veins are like the Alaska pipeline, so they had to have been EXTREMELY unnerved by me watching) :D
Interesting stuff that Amy's skin is made of. Shiny and textured like a plastic but without the odd creasing you expect to see with that kind of material. Cool to the touch according to Galina. Is it as pliable as human skin? Looks like it may be a bit denser but I wonder if it is more durable? Amy is one of the more interesting characters I've encountered in science fiction. Her perspective is fairly unique. How unique? Well, she's reduced Rose to can't-contain-the-happy squeeing just by being herself. Impressive.
Yes, it appears so.
Just a pinch here.

... and a dead puppy on the floor ...
And I was kinda responsible for that.
Hmmm ....
*spanks self*
BAD doggie!
...the anticipation is the worst. When it starts it mostly is not as bad anymore.
I have a question: since the collar is working again (at least after a fashion and with Amy's help) why did Galina feel the injection as hurting?
Could they not use a local anesthetic to numb the skin for the shot?
*hugs, comforts and holds Galina*
I hope they can fix Galina...
*hugs Amy and May*
PS: There seems to be some kind of feedback going on with Rose's audio connection... ;)
PPS: I like the pattern on their clothes :)

...poor Galina *hugs her*
I hope she stays calm and they do not accidentally hit a nerve or a data or power line that makes her twitch... :s

Needle phobia! Needle phobia!
I once fainted after a shot i didn't even FEEL.

Well, I have no problem giving somebody else an injection - though myself or receiving one ... ugh, that is a total different thing...
A smart doctor will stab me while I'm out. :D
it is as duranble as human skin and feels much like Silicon flesh :D
Amy has no internal organs or other biologicals actually body heat is bad for her. as she runs super-chips.
Im glad you like her - shes one of the more interesting charcters ive come up with :D
It's disturbing.
