I saw this in the work in progress thread so I knew it was coming but it still makes me queasy. It really came out nice!
Centcomm 13th Mar 2014, 1:44 AM edit delete reply

thank you these have all the little post work bits I didnt have on the other ones :D I know this sounds kinda bad but im glad it makes people a little squeamish :D
Stormwind13 16th Mar 2014, 9:41 PM edit delete reply

Yeah, I've had to deal with enough of that that I don't really ENJOY seeing more of it. Reminds me of too much time in the hospital holding people's hands, before and after procedures. :-p
velvetsanity 13th Mar 2014, 12:08 AM edit delete reply

Yay! Doc's back! ^_^

And hopefully boltbrain stopped and asked the *real* doctors to take a look before Gali has to sue them all for malpractice. :P

edit: make that "*human* doctors". Since Doc's a real doctor himself :P
Stormwind13 13th Mar 2014, 12:17 AM edit delete reply

Screw suing them... They will answer to Tokyo Rose if they mess this up! And they should be (properly) TERRIFIED of that. :-)
Centcomm 13th Mar 2014, 1:45 AM edit delete reply

At Stormwind

no kidding right?
Centcomm 13th Mar 2014, 1:44 AM edit delete reply

Doc is rather "insistant" on his patients survival :D
Stormwind13 13th Mar 2014, 6:59 AM edit delete reply

Shouldn't ALL Doctors be interested in the survival of their patients? :-p
Sheela 13th Mar 2014, 6:51 PM edit delete reply

Yes, but this autodoc seems more like the type that would infiltrate another base's medical department because :

1) Galina was there and
2) he got bored .. like, REALLY bored!

Frankly, the russian autodoc seems more in line with something Tokyo Rose would make, than anything else.
Hrm, I would not be surprised if he's a colaboration project between Dr. Kotko and Tokyo Rose.

It would certainly explain his vocabolary and agile mind.
jamie59 13th Mar 2014, 12:12 AM edit delete reply

So they dug up the Robodoc who saved her earlier. Or is this just a dream?
velvetsanity 13th Mar 2014, 12:23 AM edit delete reply

It only makes sense that they'd go and recover Doc, since he's done surgical work on her before and is familiar with her construction and such.(Even though he only worked on her organic parts, IIRC he has a complete set of scans including her cybernetics, which at the time were undamaged)
Centcomm 13th Mar 2014, 1:47 AM edit delete reply

he was tied into Nadia bases computers :D
Sheela 13th Mar 2014, 6:55 PM edit delete reply

Heh, I'm thinking it's more a case of the autodoc getting REALLY BORED and hacking the other base's security, just to pass time.

Hrm, I wonder who could have possibly helped him with something ILLEGAL like that ?

Tokyo Rose ?
Nahhhh - Too obvious.
Centcomm 13th Mar 2014, 1:48 AM edit delete reply

Shes not dreaming .. well maybe a bit :D
Sheela 15th Mar 2014, 8:52 PM edit delete reply

"Okie-Dokey" :D
Dragonrider 13th Mar 2014, 12:18 AM edit delete reply

She seems to have friends everywhere, except for crazy people who hear voices.
Centcomm 13th Mar 2014, 1:45 AM edit delete reply

as Doc said a long time ago.. "they will eather love her or hate her" :D
Sheela 13th Mar 2014, 6:41 PM edit delete reply

And then he invaded the other base's security system and installed himself in there, while having a long chat with Rose.

... there were some morbid details mentioned, and Rose squeeled several times, and only partly because of the morbid details.
Stormwind13 16th Mar 2014, 9:50 PM edit delete reply

In the end even Rainer wanted to 'save' Galina... from the Singers.
Sheela 17th Mar 2014, 1:03 PM edit delete reply

And now she's going to go meet them !
I bet she never thought she would actually have to go and face the Singers.
Betcha she thought they were figments of his imagination.
mjkj 13th Mar 2014, 12:29 AM edit delete reply

Yayyy, the Doc is here :D

I hope he can convince the other one not to damage Galina or stop it before it does - but repair and heal her...

We still need Galina - and undamaged and hugable...

*tries very hard not to hug Galina...*

velvetsanity 13th Mar 2014, 12:36 AM edit delete reply

*helpfully restrains mjkj until it's safe to visit Galina in recovery* ^_~
mjkj 14th Mar 2014, 9:35 AM edit delete reply

Thanks, Velvet... –_–
velvetsanity 14th Mar 2014, 12:49 PM edit delete reply

np ^_^
Centcomm 13th Mar 2014, 1:46 AM edit delete reply

Doc has ways of getting his point accross .. including a medical laser if need be :D
Sheela 13th Mar 2014, 6:42 PM edit delete reply

Or a slap wth a heavy cable.
cattservant 13th Mar 2014, 1:07 AM edit delete reply

The lure of salvaging an entire abandoned lunar base would be irresistible.
Centcomm 13th Mar 2014, 1:47 AM edit delete reply

LOL yah salvage is salvage :F
Stormwind13 13th Mar 2014, 7:02 AM edit delete reply

Waste not, want not... especially in an environment where you have to import so much stuff to survive as you would on Luna.
Centcomm 15th Mar 2014, 2:13 PM edit delete reply

yep you got that right!
Aurora 13th Mar 2014, 1:12 AM edit delete reply
I have this unshakable feeling that something bad is about to happen...
Centcomm 13th Mar 2014, 1:47 AM edit delete reply

aww your just saying that :D
Timotheus 13th Mar 2014, 5:44 AM edit delete reply
To the Am-Com AutoDoc if it doesn't stop?
I agree that if they knew about it that bringing in a competent high tech surgical AutoDoc that already had all of Galina's known medical data, both general and classified, downloaded in it and wouldn't have problems accessing it to be part of her repair team would be a really smart thing to do. And helps explain the long delay before getting started.
cattservant 13th Mar 2014, 6:12 AM edit delete reply

Would Tokyo Rose deal with an auto-doc level AI directly?
Tokyo Rose 13th Mar 2014, 9:09 AM edit delete reply

Normally, yes. There's enough signal delay between Terra and Luna to make that bothersome, though.
cattservant 13th Mar 2014, 11:23 AM edit delete reply

I was wondering if there might be a hierarchy.

[Of course if there was, TR would subvert it!]
Sheela 13th Mar 2014, 6:45 PM edit delete reply

Unless that AI is smart enough to work independantly and interpret Rose's orders enough that it can keep the process running invetween actual orders.

Which, frankly, the russian autodoc could probably do with all 7 camara's blindfolded and most of his tentacles bound behind Galina's back and singing the latest pop-tune in g-minor.
Centcomm 15th Mar 2014, 2:13 PM edit delete reply

yeah it could be a bad thing .. and there has to be instantanous reaction time the 2.5 seconds is too long ..
Hornet 13th Mar 2014, 12:37 PM edit delete reply
This is why you don't use 5 ton cranes to string single-strand fiber-optics. No precision at all...
velvetsanity 13th Mar 2014, 12:41 PM edit delete reply

I don't think that's the issue here. I think it's more a matter of capacity for autonomous decision-making.
Sheela 13th Mar 2014, 6:46 PM edit delete reply

Indeed ... you can have all the manual dexterity in the world, but if you don't have the control over where to use it, it won't do you any good, such control need an agile mind.

Now, who do we know of that programmed higly sophisticated minds ? Ah yes, Dr. Kotko.
And who do we know that like to corrupt innocent minds and likes hacking ? Oh yes, Tokyo Rose.
And we know they worked with one another.
The result ought to be obvious. :)
Centcomm 15th Mar 2014, 2:12 PM edit delete reply

Kotko may.. or may not have had anything to do with the SID develoupment :D
Sheela 16th Mar 2014, 7:27 PM edit delete reply

Besides having the Doc be an illegimate "lovechild" of Dr Kotko and Tokyo Rose is just straight up funny.

Though I bet the government would find it anything *but* funny, and they would frown .. a lot.
Centcomm 15th Mar 2014, 2:12 PM edit delete reply

so very true :D
Guest 13th Mar 2014, 11:45 PM edit delete reply
Presence authorized or unauthorized?
If the AD is there legitimately, why is it having to fight with the other one in the first place?
Would not the Humans responsible for AD's presence recognize that the same attributes which made the thing worth going to get in the fisrs place also justify giving it priority over the other one and letting it call the shots?

On the other hand, if it sneaked in the backdoor by itself, and got This Closely into such a critical project without being, Idunno, at least Challenged by some sort of "hey, wait a minute, You don't belong here!" subsystem, then why bother even arguing with the other AI, which has no reason to listen to anything AD says anyway?

Why not use whatever black magic it used to make itself so comfortable in a hostile system to just Override the other obviously lesser AI?

(hehe, for some reason I'm visualizing the autodoc's inflitration of the base's systems as one of the old M66 combat driods stalking through a heavily guarded military facility and just taking apart anyone who got in its way...)
Hornet 14th Mar 2014, 9:25 AM edit delete reply
Two doctors in the same OR? Sounds like the perfect setting for a battle of authority, to me.
Centcomm 15th Mar 2014, 2:11 PM edit delete reply

boom - you bet!
velvetsanity 14th Mar 2014, 9:33 AM edit delete reply

I bet Rose snuck him in.
Sheela 14th Mar 2014, 2:06 PM edit delete reply

"A challenge!", Rose said, to which the autodoc said "Okie-Dokey" and then proceeded to browbeat everyone around.

Except for Galina, she got hugs. :)
Centcomm 15th Mar 2014, 2:12 PM edit delete reply

there is no hacking involved here :D
Sheela 15th Mar 2014, 4:46 PM edit delete reply

That's ok, we can call it something else, as long as Galina gets hugs. :)
mjkj 14th Mar 2014, 9:30 AM edit delete reply

Oh, by the way, what a cheeky first panel...
Centcomm 15th Mar 2014, 2:11 PM edit delete reply

yaahhh - couldnt really get a better shot could i :D
mjkj 16th Mar 2014, 7:06 PM edit delete reply

Well, I am not complaining :p

But I just had to mention it...
Centcomm 16th Mar 2014, 7:07 PM edit delete reply

oh I was laughing so its all good ( and it is a nice shot right? )
mjkj 17th Mar 2014, 12:06 AM edit delete reply

Yup it is :)
highlander55 14th Mar 2014, 12:34 PM edit delete reply

Why do I believe it is Rose talking thru the Auto Doc!? Got her cheeky smart ass to it. (Oh oh, I said ass, sorry Galina couldn't help but look)
Centcomm 15th Mar 2014, 2:11 PM edit delete reply

LOL - no its not Rose :D
Sheela 15th Mar 2014, 4:49 PM edit delete reply

Nah, it seems to be the autodoc himself, in there.

But considering that Tokyo Rose probably have a finger/tentacle in just about every single AI project on the planet, and has been doing so for a while - She's probably to blame/used as inspiration for every snarky robot/android out there!

She'll deny it, offcourse .. but ..
Tokyo Rose 16th Mar 2014, 10:35 AM edit delete reply

Totally like Shub-Niggurath, the Black Goat of the Woods with a Thousand Young. Minus the black goat and the woods.
Sheela 16th Mar 2014, 7:30 PM edit delete reply

Just replace the black goat and the woods with tentacle beasts and cyberspace, and you've got a decent representation. :)
Offcourse, you'd open yourself to weaknesses against small asian magical girls in tra-la-la outfits.

But hey, can't win all the time, unless you cheat.
Caley Tibbittz Collopy 16th Mar 2014, 2:37 AM edit delete reply

Marvelous. Any funnier and the drama would have died on the operating table, but the balance is perfect.

...I sound like a douchey movie review guy. Hmm. :-?
Centcomm 16th Mar 2014, 7:03 PM edit delete reply

Rose is the one to thank for all the word play :D shes awesome !
Miyto 16th Mar 2014, 7:52 PM edit delete reply
I found your comics thursday, I love all the ethics you put into emerging AI Sapience.
(still wonder why the scientists didn't think of a new term for emotional intelligence and had to make a 'better' term for 'fully sentient' beings... Hubris of some sort I guess)
I wonder when the old Auto-Doc went and sparked?
Centcomm 16th Mar 2014, 9:41 PM edit delete reply

Thank you very much! :D love your comments ! hope you are with us for a long time!
cattservant 16th Mar 2014, 8:20 PM edit delete reply

Votes are down.

Stormwind13 16th Mar 2014, 9:37 PM edit delete reply

Rose, love the line - "And slow down! You're not being graded on speed!" :-D I mean, the dialogue is all good, but that made me chuckle. :-D I could hear that in Dr. McCoy's voice. :-D
Centcomm 16th Mar 2014, 9:39 PM edit delete reply

your not wrong Docs lines were written from the Dr Macoy Style :D
Tokyo Rose 16th Mar 2014, 10:31 PM edit delete reply

What scares me just a little about "Star Trek 2009" and "Star Trek Into Darkness" is that Karl Urban appears to have performed some kind of dark voodoo ritual to summon DeForest Kelley's spirit from the afterlife to possess him for the role. I love Dr. McCoy :D
highlander55 16th Mar 2014, 10:59 PM edit delete reply
At lest Karl isn't still looking to kill Riddick.
Centcomm 17th Mar 2014, 9:25 PM edit delete reply

so very true - right?
velvetsanity 17th Mar 2014, 12:30 AM edit delete reply

I re-read LS tonight...and I just out of nowhere realized something (if only in regards to who would play a character): Kiku drives The Bus.

And Doc is indeed Leonard H. "Bones" McCoy. :D

Edit: Oh, you said that about Doc right up there. whoops. :D
Stormwind13 17th Mar 2014, 6:27 PM edit delete reply

We had that realization at about who the doc bot reminded us of at about the same time, velvet. :-D I would say Rose achieved her desired effect in this case. :-)
velvetsanity 17th Mar 2014, 6:33 PM edit delete reply

Actually, I think I just re-realized it, I'd have to go back to his previous appearance and check the comments to be sure, though.

edit: guess I wasn't leaving comments back then...maybe it was part of a conversation I had with Cent.
Centcomm 17th Mar 2014, 9:26 PM edit delete reply

at velvet : I have no idea :D
velvetsanity 18th Mar 2014, 11:03 AM edit delete reply

'The Bus' is the plane that Coulson's team in Agents of SHIELD travels (and lives) in. The pilot is Agent Melinda May.
Centcomm 17th Mar 2014, 9:25 PM edit delete reply

I can get behind that :D
Sleeper 5th Mar 2015, 10:27 PM edit delete reply

Good to see the Doc again
