Any time now, "Underway, shift colors".

Luna star... she's... SHES GONE TO PLAID!
Sheela 6th Jun 2014, 12:44 AM edit delete reply

Hah, good reference. :)
mjkj 5th Jun 2014, 2:52 AM edit delete reply

Yayy, almost...

...start in three, two, one...

Good that Edict is there. Even if he can not harm - I believe if he threatens that is enough to keep jerk pilot at bay.

*hugs Gali*

Currie on the other hand seems to be all right.

I think he's actually weaponized now.
Edict, I mean.
anonymous coward 5th Jun 2014, 7:56 AM edit delete reply
I understood what you meant but I was given cause for a double-take about it by people who have referred to a certain part of male anatomy as 'their weapon.'
You may be groaning now, but this slang is very valuable for making military jargon less dreary.

The bottom has dropped out.
Push has come to shove!
Sheela 5th Jun 2014, 6:23 AM edit delete reply

lol .. I read that "push has come to shovel" :D

And what would it be shovelling ? snow?
There's an interesting image in your mind.
Dragonrider 5th Jun 2014, 8:39 AM edit delete reply

With Cap Loudmouth in charge you might well be shoveling Bull S#!t.

Taylor - "I'll show you where to strap in"
Gali - "This is happening really fast now"
Jack - "Hell yeah! Ride 'em cowgirl"
Meg - "Shut the F up Jack 'fore y'get thumped"
Jack - "Thump me baby!"

Be warned, don't do what jack just did.
Because sometimes innocent little girls aren't as innocent as they seem!
(warning : video has equal measures of Dubstep, violence and awesome in it)

I still vote to put him out the airlock after they are under way.
mjkj 6th Jun 2014, 3:10 AM edit delete reply

So, Currie's name is Meg? I thought Currie was her first name...

Jack on a leash sounds good, though.

Sheela 6th Jun 2014, 12:39 PM edit delete reply

She was introduced as "Megan Currie", which would make her firstname "Megan", and "Currie" her surname.

"Meg" is offcourse just a shorthand version of "Megan".
mjkj 6th Jun 2014, 12:45 PM edit delete reply

Ah, sorry. Need to read more precisely I guess - I think I only read her introduced as Currie - and the way Colonel Taylor addresses her sounds also more like this is her first name...
Tokyo Rose 6th Jun 2014, 8:19 PM edit delete reply

From my entire body of experience with military personnel, if you don't have a rank, you have one name, and it's always the one you automatically got rather than the one your parents picked for you :D
Sheela 6th Jun 2014, 11:10 PM edit delete reply

Unless there's too many with the same surname ... then you get the most emberassing callsign they can come up with, like .. "pees in pants" or something like that, and then they sshorten it down to P.I.P., because they are lazy.

And then you will NEVER get rid of it again... EVER !
Tokyo Rose 7th Jun 2014, 8:29 PM edit delete reply

During one stage of my brother's career in the USN, he was part of a helicopter maintenance crew. He brought home a plaque with the names/callsigns/nicknames of himself and his crewmates. Some of them were REALLY cool (one dude was called "Ironmonger", seriously), some were cool if unoriginal (a dude whose last name was Krueger was called "Freddy"), and then we got to my brother.

Whose nickname was, as immortalized upon this plaque, "Booger".

Apparently, he was the shipboard champion of belching. SO PROUD.

(Another highlight of his naval career is that he was able to successfully trade various goods for the hats of crewmembers from other nations' navies. He got a Russian ship captain's hat in exchange for several bottles of Coca-Cola, for example. This has no relation whatsoever to weird callsigns, but it's about all I can offer on short notice to offset the fact that my brother was known as "Booger", for God's sake.)
Sheela 7th Jun 2014, 10:39 PM edit delete reply

Hah, your brother sounds entertaining at least. :)
highlander55 9th Jun 2014, 12:04 AM edit delete reply

Could have been worse Rose. He could have been upchucking in a bucket first time out and be called Chum Bucket! Just saying!
CyberSkull 7th Jun 2014, 6:52 AM edit delete reply

I see what you will do thereā€¦ launch on 200!
