Wouldn't at be "Rivera'd", as in Geraldo? I guess it could have changed over centuries of passing time.
Tokyo Rose 15th Jul 2014, 6:01 PM edit delete reply

Right on both points. The slang DOES come from "Geraldo Rivera", and it DID change over time. :D

That is a TERRIBLE pun, Rose. You will be PUN-ished for that, someday, someway! :-D

Does it?
I figured it came from "River City" the term we used for Restricted Communications in the military.
I remember one time we went River City on deployment. It turned out two of our pilots had crashed into each other in a sandstorm. We didn't know why we suddenly couldn't talk to our families, but we couldn't. Then we started to get messages from them about it (they didn't need to restrict communication TO us) and found out.
Yes, we found out that two of our crew died from folks off the ship telling us what we were not supposed to tell them.
OTOH I do understand why they did it, the military prefers to tell the family of a death with a CACO Officer, a Chaplain, and a check. It isn't good, but it is a lot better than the family hearing it from anyone else first.

Wow, he gets substance now and gets relatable.

I hope his family will survive...

(I mean all of them - not just the minimum one we know must have survived)

Feels like a pull from Bio of a Space Tyrant to me.

Colonel Taylor might do whatever is necessary to complete the mission and preserve the human race; however, he has no desire to die doing it. He might die, but for his kids' sake, he is going to be looking for a survivable option right up to the end.

Despite the hardware, Colonel Taylor is very human. Maybe as human as Galina. :-)

maybe he will :D
jamie59 15th Jul 2014, 8:38 PM edit delete reply

He keeps treating Gali as a person. That'll make it impossable for her not to like him.
Centcomm 10th Sep 2014, 1:23 PM edit delete reply
