Some beings are unexpectedly superior
in some unexpectedly serious situations.
Centcomm 24th Jul 2014, 12:02 PM edit delete reply

oh so very true :D
Vivocateur 24th Jul 2014, 12:29 AM edit delete reply

It must be an alien alarm clock: waking up the aliens for work each morning with a jolt of agonizing madness.
Centcomm 24th Jul 2014, 12:01 PM edit delete reply

is there any other way?
anonymous coward 25th Jul 2014, 9:58 AM edit delete reply
Well, joyful madness might work too but then we'd have a Disney princess on our hands instead of alien invaders.
Tokyo Rose 27th Jul 2014, 9:54 PM edit delete reply

I hate it when I wake up like two minutes before the alarm goes off and fills my brain with the worms of madness, don't you?
Sheela 28th Jul 2014, 10:38 AM edit delete reply

*hides worm jar*

... uhhmmmm - no ?
Say, wanna go fishing ?
You can be .. erhh .. bring the bait. :D
jamie59 24th Jul 2014, 12:36 AM edit delete reply

So Gali has to be the glue holding them together sence she's immune.
Centcomm 24th Jul 2014, 9:46 AM edit delete reply

Her and Edict..
DizzasterJuice 24th Jul 2014, 12:37 AM edit delete reply

JacobJSebastian 24th Jul 2014, 6:52 AM edit delete reply

Last time I heard someone yell "Probe away!", I was... um... never mind...
Centcomm 24th Jul 2014, 9:46 AM edit delete reply

facepalms..
Sheela 24th Jul 2014, 10:22 PM edit delete reply

Besides, normally, it's the Aliens probing humans ... it's nice for a bit of turnaround!

Though Galina seems unusually excited about this whole probing stuff. :D
mjkj 24th Jul 2014, 7:22 AM edit delete reply

Wow, Gali looks so beautiful in that last panel there *hugs her*

Wow, every six hours? for how long? poor humans - I hope no one will go crazy...

So, how comes the "Daddy... Daddy, wake up..." there? is that Colonel Taylor's daughter? - and is Gali hearing it, too?

Centcomm 24th Jul 2014, 9:45 AM edit delete reply

She does look really cute there well its six hours half way like most ripples they will get more intense as for that line it wasn't col Taylor where she heard it.
mjkj 24th Jul 2014, 6:21 PM edit delete reply

Oh, that is a memory from the original Galina talking to her father?
Centcomm 24th Jul 2014, 6:37 PM edit delete reply

Good guess .. But its not Galina at all .. :D

:)
Hydrargyrum 24th Jul 2014, 8:01 PM edit delete reply

That's the font and background used for most of the Luna Star crew (Kiku, Megan, Jack, Halloran). From Galina's commentary it's not unnatural to read "Daddy..." as a quote from Jack. But it seems pretty far out character and not the sort of thing one might say in relation to crawling bugs. Given the six hour "wave" period a clip of one of his daughters seems the kind of thing Halloran might set to play automatically. So I'd be more inclined to go with your first supposition, mjkj, if Cent hadn't said otherwise.

Not something I can see Kiku or Megan saying either so, hmm, perhaps most anyone farther back as the font and background is the default for most characters. My first thought was to flip back to the TV sequence from page 76. But no kids there. So color me stumped for the moment.
Stormwind13 24th Jul 2014, 9:51 PM edit delete reply

If someone is suffering a psychological breakdown due to the 'attack', it is possible. Like you though, Hydrargyrum I can't see it from any of the people on board... unless it is Jet.
Centcomm 25th Jul 2014, 7:52 PM edit delete reply

OK that page has been fixed now :D
Tokyo Rose 24th Jul 2014, 10:57 PM edit delete reply

Hm. Maybe should've made the background of that block Gali's color to make it more clear in the flow of the narration.

It's one of the things the pilot was saying before they sedated him.
Stormwind13 24th Jul 2014, 11:27 PM edit delete reply

Ah, that makes sense. Galina is mentally replaying what the pilot (Jack) was saying as he was carted off. Okay.
Tokyo Rose 24th Jul 2014, 11:36 PM edit delete reply

Remembering, technically. The past-tense style of the narration is deliberate. :)
Centcomm 24th Jul 2014, 11:45 PM edit delete reply

Yup all of the narration is Galina's thoughts .. and a few bits from her biographer.. ( just a teeny bit. )
Hydrargyrum 25th Jul 2014, 9:03 AM edit delete reply

Best solution I'm coming up with is to merge the three text boxes (on the right side of panel four) so the quote from Jack reads like what one would normally find in a novel. That also addresses the ambiguity about whether "Daddy..." is spoken from off panel.

It'd be a bit wall of text but seems like it'd go OK with a little rearranging and editing.
Centcomm 25th Jul 2014, 2:09 PM edit delete reply

well no ones perfect - But rose hits damn close to my eyes. when I read this version - I got it. often Rose rewrites entire pages - but im always impressed and stunned by her work.
Tokyo Rose 25th Jul 2014, 7:36 PM edit delete reply

Unfortunately, that doesn't work for me. Breaks the flow, and the quoted line loses its impact when it's just mixed in. Sending a revision to Cent.
Centcomm 25th Jul 2014, 7:53 PM edit delete reply

Its up and a link to the old page is at the top :D
Stormwind13 25th Jul 2014, 10:16 PM edit delete reply

Go with what works for you Rose. I think it works pretty well for most of the readers (from the comments I've seen at least).

Though in this case, I think the change makes it clearer. So thank you for doing that. :-)
Tokyo Rose 26th Jul 2014, 6:02 AM edit delete reply

Oh, good. :)

But we WILL leave specifics to the imagination. I'm sure y'all can horrify yourselves good and hard just going off of what's provided.

To paraphrase Yahtzee*: All a good horror story needs to do is hand you a piece of sandpaper and shout encouragement as you vigorously massage your own undercarriage.

*Ben "Yahtzee" Croshaw of "Zero Punctuation" fame. If you haven't heard of him, do yourself an enormous favor, do a Google search for "Zero Punctuation", and watch some of his game reviews. But only do this if you have lots of spare time, because it is awfully hard not to wind up going through his entire archive of videos. And only if you have excellent bladder control, because you will probably laugh yourself into urinary incontinence at least once.

(I will now watch to see if anybody snarkily posts that they don't think he's funny, because I've always wondered what it would be like to talk to a Yithian or some other alien being.)
Stormwind13 26th Jul 2014, 12:06 PM edit delete reply

I tried, Rose. I really REALLY tried... and failed miserably at not laughing at Zero Punctuation. :-D
DizzasterJuice 24th Jul 2014, 10:29 AM edit delete reply

When are you people going to start listening to Jack? He's been having premonitions... they're crawling bugs that want to lay their eggs in you!
Centcomm 24th Jul 2014, 12:01 PM edit delete reply

Iiiieeeee ! * Runs away!
Sheela 28th Jul 2014, 10:41 AM edit delete reply

Omelet time ! :D
Timotheus 24th Jul 2014, 2:39 PM edit delete reply
So the humans are going to probe the aliens?
(Had to ask)
Centcomm 24th Jul 2014, 2:40 PM edit delete reply

Looks that way..
mjkj 24th Jul 2014, 6:21 PM edit delete reply

*lol*
Stormwind13 24th Jul 2014, 7:35 PM edit delete reply

LOL. I didn't think about it, but you are right Timotheus! :-D
Sheela 28th Jul 2014, 10:42 AM edit delete reply

Looks like Galina is really looking forward to probing some aliens .. or maybe just .. some .. one !

Watch out Jet, she has a strap-on ! >_<
Centcomm 28th Jul 2014, 10:56 AM edit delete reply

Oh dear lord .. I think Galina would die of embarrassment if that happened.. Shes a bit old fashioned when it comes to that :D
Sheela 28th Jul 2014, 3:21 PM edit delete reply

But she *is* awfully cheerful about probing aliens!
mjkj 25th Jul 2014, 8:12 AM edit delete reply

"Spoiler": the the upcoming events are referred to in the DC comic momentarily page 887...
Stormwind13 25th Jul 2014, 10:14 PM edit delete reply

True, mjkj; however, the Devil's in the details. We don't know if Galina gets half her face blown off, before meeting with the aliens. We don't know if ANY of the humans in the crew survive or are sane by the time she meets the aliens. We know the event, without knowing the details. So still anxiously awaiting to see what happens. :-)
Centcomm 28th Jul 2014, 4:37 AM edit delete reply

oh so very true.. stromwind :D
mjkj 28th Jul 2014, 5:52 AM edit delete reply

Yeah, but we know she will make one beautiful ambassador ;)
Centcomm 28th Jul 2014, 10:56 AM edit delete reply

Provided she has all her parts :D
Stormwind13 28th Jul 2014, 6:37 PM edit delete reply

Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder, mjkj.

I can hear the Epiphytes, "Pretty? But, but... she is PINK!" :-D
