I would always have expected a hardsuit to be bulkier, and it seems so did Galina.
Centcomm 13th Jan 2015, 3:31 PM edit delete reply

yep
Sheela 13th Jan 2015, 3:57 PM edit delete reply

Well, technically, it's not a hardsuit.
Stormwind13 13th Jan 2015, 1:02 AM edit delete reply

Galina looks great here. And she is so much more mature, more assertive than she was at the start of the comic. She has grown-up a lot. :-)
Centcomm 13th Jan 2015, 3:31 PM edit delete reply

shes growing up :D *snif*
Sheela 13th Jan 2015, 3:57 PM edit delete reply

Your characters keep growing up on ya' ?

Next thing you'll know, they want to loan your car so they can take their new girlfriend to the movies.

One of the issues that they have discussed in establishing communications is in how to figure out how they speak. Radio, scent, patterns on the fur, psi, sound, etc. You have to be able to recognize it as speech first.
Stormwind13 13th Jan 2015, 1:17 AM edit delete reply

Well the aliens have been sending a radio message, but it doesn't seem to be a complete message. So Galina has SOMETHING to base her communication attempt on. It just might not be everything to communicate with them.

She needs C3PO...
Centcomm 13th Jan 2015, 3:32 PM edit delete reply

she far4 exceeds C3po after all she can decode on the fly he couldn't
Sheela 13th Jan 2015, 3:58 PM edit delete reply

She's also much better looking. :)
Stormwind13 13th Jan 2015, 6:32 PM edit delete reply

A very good point, Sheela. :-D
mjkj 14th Jan 2015, 7:16 AM edit delete reply

So true, Sheela :D
Vivocateur 13th Jan 2015, 1:09 AM edit delete reply

Ooo...I'm really looking forward to seeing how this communication attempt goes :D
Centcomm 14th Jan 2015, 6:47 AM edit delete reply

it will be "interesting" :D
plymayer 13th Jan 2015, 2:01 AM edit delete reply

Coming so close to us, within the solar system, could mean they want to make contact. Staying as far away as they did could mean they do not.
DLKmusic 13th Jan 2015, 5:05 AM edit delete reply

I've always thought of it like Arthur C. Clarke's 2001 Space Odyssey, where they wanted us to make contact, but we needed to reach a certain technological level first.

So far, this chapter is VERY 2001 space odyssey. Both in Imagery and in dialog. Very impressive so far.

im glad i promise no giant black monoliths or long acid trip scenes :D
Sheela 13th Jan 2015, 3:59 PM edit delete reply

Aw, but giant black monoliths are kinda cool. :)
Centcomm 14th Jan 2015, 6:48 AM edit delete reply

Sheela 14th Jan 2015, 11:06 PM edit delete reply

Oh c'mon ... it's several hundred years into the future, they'd long since have bred with non-natves and become extinct by then.

Happens all the time.
mjkj 13th Jan 2015, 9:09 AM edit delete reply

Wow, Gali is looking great *hugs her*

Nice suit. So, Gali is leaving soon...

*looking forward to the first contact* :D

Centcomm 13th Jan 2015, 3:35 PM edit delete reply

well the wait shouldn't be much longer :D
mjkj 14th Jan 2015, 7:19 AM edit delete reply

It is nice to see the injuries Gali got healed nicely - I hope the scar will vanish totally...

xpacetrue 13th Jan 2015, 2:55 PM edit delete reply

Galina has a lot of hair. And that skintight suit looks (panel 1) like the neck area where the helmet attaches does not leave much leeway.

Long hair could be a HAZARD as it could easily get caught in the seal between the helmet and the neck. (Have you ever gotten hair, fur, or thread stuck in a zipper?)

Realistically, debriefing for this mission should have either included a requirement to have short hair or a REMINDER to pin hair up out of the way to insure an airtight seal. You really don't want a leak...

PS: Interestingly enough, there are some serious proposals for skintight space suits. Though, it is currently still theoretical.
Centcomm 13th Jan 2015, 3:35 PM edit delete reply

Long hair CAN be a hazard yes - and thats why she binds it up when before she puts on the suit taking it off however she yanked out the tie that held it back ..
DizzasterJuice 13th Jan 2015, 4:13 PM edit delete reply

They're not going to be shooting at you anyway. They need you alive so they can lay their eggs inside your body, like I've been saying. lol
Centcomm 14th Jan 2015, 6:48 AM edit delete reply

sheeesh - you and your eggs :D
StellarJ 14th Jan 2015, 10:56 AM edit delete reply
Try hatching another idea.
Sheela 14th Jan 2015, 11:06 PM edit delete reply

Or make an omelet ?
Nystran 15th Jan 2015, 12:32 PM edit delete reply
Nooooo! Not an omelet. You can't make an omelet without breaking the eggs.
Matt Knab 13th Jan 2015, 5:33 PM edit delete reply

"Well, what you plan and what takes place ain't ever exactly been similar." ;)
Stormwind13 13th Jan 2015, 6:35 PM edit delete reply

MAY not be similar, Matt. That is frequently the case, I'll grant you; however, Galina is an optimist (along with Murphy :-D).
Centcomm 14th Jan 2015, 6:49 AM edit delete reply

always the case .. always :D
