What a way to go though, CentComm. Iris would make a gorgeous sight to take into the dark with you. And if you survived, the dreams you would have for the rest of your life. :-D
I've developed a fairly lengthy theory about why Galina (and others of her sort) are telepathically silent. Basically it boils down to the fact that the biological components of her brain were designed by engineers rather than evolved by hit and miss evolution. Our nervous systems and what ever passes for Iris's and the other intelligent species in the galaxy's are all due to natural selection, thus they have redundancies, evolutionary artifacts, variable synapse gaps (and thus thought frequencies), activation chemicals, etc.
This would provide a wide variety of opportunities for what is known as telepathy to effect the transfer of thought data from one being to another. It would also make the situation worse for those whose organic brains were interfaced with mechano/electric components but not shielded from such outside interference, the metallic components perhaps acting as antennae.
For those species that have never developed the ability to do this consciously, encountering it can be terrible.
An engineered brain like Galina's though would be designed to have as few gaps as possible, its dimensions and components standardized and interfaces shielded. To a telepath, unless it could just by happenstance hit the exact frequency, her brain is a smooth, slightly humming surface, somewhat like low volume white noise.
Agreed mjkj. The update is gorgeous and the glowing (FX) eyes are really neat.
Do I detect a slight visual distortion in the last panel? There seems to be some wavy lines in Iris' appearance around the head and point of contact (hand).
That doesn't have to to be the case. After all the Organians (from Star Trek) didn't have warriors. I got the impression, from Datachasers, that they were extremely peaceful.
In any case, it looks like their robots are designed for defence (after all a robot did taser Galina).
"I'm Ghengis Khan. You'll go where I go, defile what I defile, eat who I eat. Mmm?" *wink*
I don't see the problem with that. Learning history from the perspective of sentient, telepathic trees that used to be human-ish would probably be hilariously weird and informative. It might be overly-optimistic of me to even hope for this, but I'd almost *expect* that with their telepathy they'd customize what they try to teach based on their observations of your interests, attention-span and learning capacity.
Edit, Okay, the top part anyways.
You know, that's actually really a blessing in many cases.

If they had any real psychic talent, they could not possibly stand to be anywhere near their customers.
...and yayy, Gali is not affected :D
I like the glowing eyes...

A classic!
Just ask Jet. XD

Moses: "I bring you these 15 (crash), err.... ten... TEN commandments."
(Thank you, Mel, after 30 years, that's still funny as hell!)
OMCL: "OBEY", "OBEY"
Galina: "Huh?"
PS... Iris doesn't look quite so "unfrightening" in the final frame there.... That would scare the snot out of me!
It's probably one of them Feral Roses. XD
Why would anyone put a Micro cam into an ear piece?
Hmmm... aliens. plant like. blah blah....
OMG... it's Invasion of the Body Snatchers II...
Galina, dont go to sleep!
Eli...
