New meaning to laser tag.
HiFranc 21st May 2015, 12:44 AM edit delete reply

I take it their machines are sapient?
Tokyo Rose 21st May 2015, 3:09 AM edit delete reply

Epiphyte machines aren't actually sapient; they don't have "personhood" or self-awareness. They're essentially very advanced robots with living components, able to receive or relay the Epiphytes' telepathic signals.

Like a HAM Radio Repeater?
invisibro1 21st May 2015, 12:04 PM edit delete reply
Guys ... I think you mean "sentient", not "sapient".
Tokyo Rose 21st May 2015, 5:35 PM edit delete reply

Debatable. I was using the Wikipedia definition of sapience; "sentience", as noted in the Wikipedia article on sentience, tends to be confused or conflated with "sapience" in science fiction.

Bottom line: the floating deathbot is not a person. :D

Rot Roe Shaggy!

That looks like it will hurt if it connects. =0

If it killed her, then how did she wind up saving Earth? Something doesn't add up here....
mjkj 21st May 2015, 2:35 AM edit delete reply

It does not say it did, but that it tried - how else would she be able to narrate?

I believe either Kiku or Jet get a warning out - or someone gets to stop it or steps in to take the brunt...

Sheela 21st May 2015, 12:10 PM edit delete reply

It only said she got stunned, not killed.
Tokyo Rose 21st May 2015, 5:37 PM edit delete reply

The first bot that zapped her only used a stunner. This one is not.
Kitty 21st May 2015, 10:51 PM edit delete reply
I took that phrase to mean that this time it was aiming something that COULD kill rather than stun; not that it DID kill.
Sheela 23rd May 2015, 5:16 AM edit delete reply

Yeah, basically we need to wait for the next page to see what happen, instead of jumping to conclusions.

Though it can be fun to jump conclusions, I'll give you that. :)

Outch, poor Gali...

I hope Aloe or One reacted fast enough - poor them then, though...

*hugs Gali*

When this is all over, can I have one of those watchers as a pet? I promise I'll take good care of it!
Stormwind13 21st May 2015, 10:55 PM edit delete reply

I heard the watcher wanted YOU for a pet, DLK. I'm putting my money on it, btw. :-D
DLKmusic 22nd May 2015, 3:21 AM edit delete reply

Yeah, that's kinda the same attitude my cat has.
cattservant 21st May 2015, 2:42 AM edit delete reply

Uh oh!!!
Matt Knab 21st May 2015, 6:31 AM edit delete reply

All it needs is a little "Are you there?" a la a Portal turret. ;)
velvetsanity 21st May 2015, 3:38 PM edit delete reply

Don't you love those talking turrets?
jas 21st May 2015, 11:03 AM edit delete reply

"This might hurt a LITTLE-!" o_0
sigpig 21st May 2015, 11:38 AM edit delete reply

From a B5/BSG corridor to a new organic-based architecture in Panel 1 looks to have been trippy indeed. Then we get a full-on Galina-butt-shot in Panel 2 (why do I feel like I should go to jail? lol) with the incredible background scenery of the Ship.

Perhaps Galina has been gifted with an organic force field by either Iris or other Epiphytes as part of her "protection" from the module (I can't remember what it's called) she must "heal"?

And thanks again, Rose, for the running dialogue (see what I did there?), especially learnin' us another $10 word in the process... lol
Tokyo Rose 21st May 2015, 5:39 PM edit delete reply

Cent will tell you that I'm kind of draconian about cheesecake shots; in this case, the butt view is an acceptable consequence of the framing for the shot. It wasn't set up solely to present ass. :D

May your games of Scrabble benefit from my addiction to big fancy words! ;D
Kitty 21st May 2015, 10:54 PM edit delete reply
Some people take the term "rear view" a little too literally. If she was wearing a thong that would be a butt shot; as it is, it's simply a view from the back. And it's very nicely done, dignified rather than salacious.
CptKerion 22nd May 2015, 6:27 PM edit delete reply
This lead me to realize I've spent so much time playing 3rd person games with female protagonists I didn't even think once, let alone twice, about it.
Sheela 23rd May 2015, 5:17 AM edit delete reply

Computer games FTW ! :)
Stormwind13 24th May 2015, 12:17 AM edit delete reply

LOL CptK. Yeah, since it wasn't a panty shot or showing lots of flesh, didn't even think about it as a 'cheesecake' shot. Just looked like a lot of characters I had in City of Heroes. The standard view to play in was pretty much from behind the character. :-)
Sheela 24th May 2015, 1:18 PM edit delete reply

... City of Heroes ... :'(
Centcomm 26th May 2015, 4:33 AM edit delete reply

I know right? I really miss that game sometimes :(
Sheela 26th May 2015, 9:09 AM edit delete reply

It'll be 3 years gone by the time November rolls around.
Lukkai 21st May 2015, 10:27 PM edit delete reply

If everything so far was any kind of indication, Aloe should have gotten some kind of warning. Question is whether it was soon enough to actually do something. And if yes, just what in that short of time.
Boren 22nd May 2015, 3:57 PM edit delete reply
Not stopping at stunning does not automatically equal death the weapon may be at full power but it must still hit its target, I have the feeling our hero is about to take one of her mandatory story wounds that will make something else more difficult to accomplish later.
CptKerion 22nd May 2015, 6:19 PM edit delete reply
and this is why you never remove any of your armor if you can help it.
Vitrvarg 23rd May 2015, 3:37 AM edit delete reply

Why is the turret speaking Klingon?
Sheela 23rd May 2015, 5:18 AM edit delete reply

Why are the Klingon's speaking Turret ?
