[Oh boy, sit down and ride!]
Centcomm 9th Jun 2015, 1:13 AM edit delete reply

Sheela 9th Jun 2015, 7:55 PM edit delete reply

Was it good for you too ?
StellarJay 9th Jun 2015, 3:38 AM edit delete reply

I am amazed. I've seen trees survive a lightning strike, and I've seen trees blasted apart and set afire by lightning strikes. They have never been the same trees. And Aloe survived, what was it, three blasts that put holes in him? I'm seriously impressed!

Plants with human mobility would have to store more, higher-density energy that non-moving plants as a rule, which likely means they're more vulnerable to catching fire. Since lots of ordinary plants tend to burn a lot, I'm sure that the Epiphytes either duly took that into consideration in the design stage for their current anatomy... or the designs they currently work from as standard are the result of revision due to past issues. Either way, I'd be a little surprised if they were much more vulnerable to electrical discharge than people, and people can survive with holes blown in them as long as they aren't in particularly vulnerable spots and that pesky bleeding and infection problem is handled adequately.
Centcomm 9th Jun 2015, 2:53 PM edit delete reply

well to be fair he was only hit twice both in the main body and he has no real internal organs to be damaged. Epiphytes have a distributed internal network most of the main body is a food cavity
they do have high requirements for proteins and sugars than normal people to keep activity levels high ..
Timotheus 9th Jun 2015, 5:05 AM edit delete reply

I guess that means I can put away the plastic wood putty.
Centcomm 9th Jun 2015, 3:45 PM edit delete reply

Yep :D Epiphytes extrude a sticky sap that can harden and seal a wound quite large if needed.. it also draws the wound closed and can help them recover.
Matt Knab 9th Jun 2015, 6:20 AM edit delete reply

Yay! Aloe has high HP! XD
Centcomm 9th Jun 2015, 3:45 PM edit delete reply

Yep he does. :D soaking the damage rather than ignoring it :D
Sheela 9th Jun 2015, 8:07 PM edit delete reply

Might have some decent resistances too, to cut down on the damage he receives, making his health pool even bigger. :)
anonymous coward 9th Jun 2015, 6:31 AM edit delete reply
I guess Aloe is entitled to a rest break under the uncommon duress clause, but he's still slacking. What a slacker! ...Okay, fine, maybe he's entitled to some epilounging after getting holes shot through him, but if he takes more than ten minutes I'm still calling 'im a slacker.
Centcomm 9th Jun 2015, 3:46 PM edit delete reply

heh sleeping is a common way for Epips to recover from damage .. Aloe couldn't continue even if he wanted to.
xpacetrue 9th Jun 2015, 6:40 AM edit delete reply

"You will be happy to know that the rest of Luna Star is rendered out and finished except for the Epilouge and im working on that now."

I'm so sad! :( This means that we are getting close(r) to the end of this comic...

" Through the qwx'wkzv'tc - which I just called 'the relay' for obvious reasons - One guided me onward. "

I forget... Who is "One" again? Is that the floaty artifactus drone thing that Galina first met after she was knocked out by a stunner blast?

"I forget... Who is "One" again? Is that the floaty artifactus drone thing that Galina first met after she was knocked out by a stunner blast?"

Yep that's the little bugger
Centcomm 9th Jun 2015, 3:47 PM edit delete reply

One is the "greeter bot" Galina first encountered ..
jas 9th Jun 2015, 9:19 AM edit delete reply

I really love the second frame, both art and dialogue. It's very vivid and pleasant. Great page!
sigpig 9th Jun 2015, 10:13 AM edit delete reply

I agree; in fact, I was just going to make a post about that! I really like the shadows across Gali's upper-chestal area caused by Aloe's "leaves".

Centcomm, I am sad that Luna Star is ending, yet happy that it IS ending when it needs to, and that it doesn't needlessly carry on and end up "jumping the shark". I'm sure you and Rose have other surprises tucked up your sleeves...
Centcomm 9th Jun 2015, 3:47 PM edit delete reply

YAY! thank you !

and yes Luna Star was never intended to be a "ongoing" thing like DC its just taken a long time to get to this point to tell the story properly..
Hornet 9th Jun 2015, 11:01 AM edit delete reply
Okay, the train surprised me.
mjkj 9th Jun 2015, 12:57 PM edit delete reply

Yeah, seems to be a theme in recent updates...

...first DC and now LS...

Lukkai 9th Jun 2015, 11:16 PM edit delete reply

Yeah, I was going to mention that too.

Though we'll see if our other heroines meet a similar amount of resistance on their way.
Centcomm 9th Jun 2015, 3:51 PM edit delete reply

That was just dumb coincidence . that both story's would have a train on them
Hornet 10th Jun 2015, 12:22 PM edit delete reply
Not really what I was referring to but rather just surprised to find one on the spaceship, at all. actually I thought the "screamer" was close enough to walk to.
mjkj 9th Jun 2015, 12:55 PM edit delete reply

Wow, beautiful :D

...and yayy, Aloe is fine (or will be shortly) ^_^

That means the end is nigh! *sighs*

Centcomm 9th Jun 2015, 3:52 PM edit delete reply

Glad you like it ! and yep Epilogue .. just to wrap up little bits and then proably a Q&A page or two with Galina answering reader questions :D
Sheela 9th Jun 2015, 8:06 PM edit delete reply

What, you mean like how Trogdor comes and saves every one ?
Because we all know, Trogdor comes in the NIIIIIIGHT !!!

*shifty eyes* ... what ?
Haegan2005 9th Jun 2015, 9:00 PM edit delete reply

Must be a puppy thing... Like chew toys(socks) and convenient restroom areas(carpet, generally the thick and hard to clean ones!).

Sheela 10th Jun 2015, 4:11 AM edit delete reply

W-wasn't me ! o.O
Centcomm 10th Jun 2015, 5:12 AM edit delete reply

It wasnt?
Sheela 10th Jun 2015, 9:13 AM edit delete reply

It was ... it was Trogdor!
Yeah, totally Trogdor.
Haegan2005 11th Jun 2015, 9:06 PM edit delete reply

Trogdor's have really big bladders... :(

DizzasterJuice 9th Jun 2015, 5:06 PM edit delete reply

Aloe was actually... a cannabis plant!
Now he's getting smoke everywhere. The whole ship gets high! heheh
Tokyo Rose 9th Jun 2015, 6:55 PM edit delete reply

Duuuuuuuude. :D
Sheela 9th Jun 2015, 7:59 PM edit delete reply

Ok, I gotta admit, that was pretty funny. :)
anonymous coward 9th Jun 2015, 7:54 PM edit delete reply
It would be totally, like, awesome if all it took to make the array chill the fuck down and mellow out was smoking some Aloe, but can you imagine the munchies they'd all get if that worked?
Tokyo Rose 9th Jun 2015, 9:50 PM edit delete reply

Fortunately, the Epiphytes have discovered that one of Jupiter's moons is made entirely of naturally-occurring Doritos.
Lukkai 9th Jun 2015, 11:17 PM edit delete reply

I see he's barking at the idea of her waiting it out with him.
Timotheus 9th Jun 2015, 11:18 PM edit delete reply

Just an observation, but doesn't that tram's surface texture resemble a cucumber or zucchini?
Hornet 10th Jun 2015, 12:30 PM edit delete reply
Other than the glass? Yes. Hmm is there a rail we're just not seeing or is the car supported & propelled by electro-mag?
Centcomm 10th Jun 2015, 3:46 PM edit delete reply

actually the epiphytes love natural colors - Also this is a mag lev you can see the rails plainly leading away and into the wall along with the circular Supports for same..
Elihias 10th Jun 2015, 4:07 AM edit delete reply
You know, as much as I like Datachasers,
this comic does so much more for me...

Sheela 10th Jun 2015, 4:13 AM edit delete reply

Choosing between the two ?

But if I had to, I think I would choose Datachasers, it's just more complicated, so there's more details to savor.
Centcomm 10th Jun 2015, 5:11 AM edit delete reply

I find it really interesting who likes what .. there are a few who like LS ovedr DC and vice versa .. im curious as to why .. but I have a few theroys :D

DC is a bit darker overall in tone than LS .. :D
Sheela 10th Jun 2015, 9:14 AM edit delete reply

DC is also more complex, and wider in scope.
DLKmusic 10th Jun 2015, 4:47 PM edit delete reply

I don't have a favorite, but the most compelling thing for me about LS is that there is no clear antagonist.

That kind of writing is incredibly difficult to do well, and you Two have managed to keep us on our toes through this whole series.

I would also like to add that the artwork in both is outstanding, but In LS, the sheer "alienness" of the Epiphytes allows for a whole world of creativity that truly highlights Cent's artistry. Datachasers doesn't really allow for that.
PioneerPete 10th Jun 2015, 5:01 AM edit delete reply
You guys are cracking me up. As a longtime legal cannabis grower, and current enthusiast of DC and LS, I can't resist comment here. Unless poor Aloe was thoroughly decarboxylated, he couldn't get anyone high. And if he was of the truly THC and terpine profiled varieties, I seriously doubt that Galina would have called him 'Aloe'. More like 'Flower'. Too obscure?
Centcomm 10th Jun 2015, 5:10 AM edit delete reply

She would have indeed given him a diffrent name.. although with her inherent resistance to narcos and blood filters she wouldnt have noticed at all .. and most Epiphytes would also be immune to it :D and glad you like the comics !! :D
