The epilogue will tell what happened after, correct?
Centcomm 9th Jul 2015, 12:28 AM edit delete reply

Yes.. The epilogue is very important ..
Sheela 9th Jul 2015, 6:08 AM edit delete reply

Well, it would have to be.
Dragonrider 9th Jul 2015, 12:03 AM edit delete reply

Centcomm 9th Jul 2015, 12:31 AM edit delete reply

I know right.. :(
Sheela 9th Jul 2015, 5:52 AM edit delete reply

Well, most russian fairy tales tends to have a .. less than happy ending.
Lukkai 9th Jul 2015, 11:44 AM edit delete reply

As do those of Eastern Asia if the ones I've read so far are any indication.
Centcomm 9th Jul 2015, 12:33 PM edit delete reply

Some story's do have unhappy endings ..
TheD-Wrek 9th Jul 2015, 12:05 AM edit delete reply

Oh no.... D:
Centcomm 9th Jul 2015, 12:31 AM edit delete reply

ok that picture is worth a thousand words! nicely done D-Wrek
Stormwind13 9th Jul 2015, 12:32 AM edit delete reply

I'm with you, D-Wrek. EVIL CentComm killing off Galina, just as she should be triumphing.

Anyone want a pitchfork and torch? We can let the EVIL CentComm know how we feel! (>.<)
Centcomm 9th Jul 2015, 12:33 AM edit delete reply

Hey Blame Sheela! she suggested it!
Haegan2005 9th Jul 2015, 1:50 AM edit delete reply

"And thee complied! Oh evil Cent! I shall call the most tender mercies of Rose upon thee and play it back in slow mo!", rages Andrea.

(Cent knows who this is)
Sheela 9th Jul 2015, 5:52 AM edit delete reply

S-Stay back .. I have pitchforks too!
Lukkai 9th Jul 2015, 11:45 AM edit delete reply

And opposable thumbs to use them?
Centcomm 9th Jul 2015, 12:32 PM edit delete reply

Shee how I threw you under the bus there Sheela :D and those arent pitchforks .. those are cute little pampered puppy claws.
DLKmusic 9th Jul 2015, 3:15 PM edit delete reply
I'm with you, D-Wrek, I'm with you 110%
Sheela 9th Jul 2015, 7:29 PM edit delete reply

That's ok, I have ... alternative ways of handling this.

Also, busses are more fun to chase when they scream in terror. >:)

Lukkai 12th Jul 2015, 12:24 AM edit delete reply

Wrong code or wrong link?
Spelledeg 9th Jul 2015, 12:13 AM edit delete reply

...My feels weren't ready for this. Oh Gali ;o;...bravo gosh it's been a journey...
Centcomm 9th Jul 2015, 12:32 AM edit delete reply

That it has. That it has. and she did succeed..
Stormwind13 9th Jul 2015, 12:21 AM edit delete reply

Happy now, Sheela? Galina is dead. :-P
Centcomm 9th Jul 2015, 12:32 AM edit delete reply

* shifty eyes * looks at Sheela .. its all her fault!
Haegan2005 9th Jul 2015, 12:49 AM edit delete reply

Tar and peanuts!

(she'll play with the feathers you see!)
Centcomm 9th Jul 2015, 1:38 AM edit delete reply

that is true!
Sheela 9th Jul 2015, 5:54 AM edit delete reply

*eats peanuts*
*considers the tar for a while*

Ohhh, y'know Centcomm, I think I have something right here for that Prince Decimus in your other comic. Maybe roll him in Scythe Lizard feeces afterwards ? :)
Centcomm 9th Jul 2015, 12:31 PM edit delete reply

LOL! thats.. horrific.
Sheela 9th Jul 2015, 7:31 PM edit delete reply

Yeah! :)
I'm sure Rose approves. :)
plymayer 9th Jul 2015, 1:16 AM edit delete reply

The end.

No more Luna Star.

That would suck. Yea! Good for her! Hope she isn't too badly damaged.
Centcomm 9th Jul 2015, 1:37 AM edit delete reply

We can hope right? although her heart stopping is a pretty fair indication of her status ..
plymayer 9th Jul 2015, 3:20 AM edit delete reply

Not an end. A beginning.
Centcomm 9th Jul 2015, 3:21 AM edit delete reply

*smiles *
Sheela 9th Jul 2015, 5:57 AM edit delete reply

Well, she won't be much of a translator, if she cannot translate more than one encounter. Besides, Jet needs some lovings. Not to mention, *someone* needs to figure out how to "flash" an android and move it's sentience into a new body. And Galina might need a new body too.

So much to do, so little time!
Centcomm 9th Jul 2015, 12:31 PM edit delete reply

Remember the "Galina Algorithm" that Kyle was given ?
Sheela 9th Jul 2015, 7:32 PM edit delete reply

I sure do.

But downloading a whole Galina everytime you need something translated seems a bit overkill to me.
Haegan2005 9th Jul 2015, 1:31 AM edit delete reply

Cent, i like the slow mo fall. Did that take some time to do?
Centcomm 9th Jul 2015, 1:36 AM edit delete reply

It did actually .. I had to pose her for each stage of it and decide on shooting it . the camera basically tracks downward as she falls.. it took about 2 hours to do in total
HiFranc 9th Jul 2015, 1:37 AM edit delete reply

If she's dead, how can she be writing this?
Centcomm 9th Jul 2015, 1:37 AM edit delete reply

GOOD point now isnt it?
Sheela 9th Jul 2015, 5:57 AM edit delete reply

She becomes the BORG !
Centcomm 9th Jul 2015, 12:29 PM edit delete reply

"We are the Borg. Lower your shields and surrender your ships. We will add your biological and technological distinctiveness to our own. Your culture will adapt to service us. Resistance is futile."
Sheela 9th Jul 2015, 7:33 PM edit delete reply

Aw, Galina would looks so cute muttering "Resistance is futile!" :D
howard 9th Jul 2015, 8:38 PM edit delete reply
aww a cute little Galina telling me resistance is futile? Talk about a perfect borg trap! I would be assimilated before I knew what hit me!! lol
StellarJay 10th Jul 2015, 9:49 AM edit delete reply

Resistance may be futile, but capacitance has potential.
Stormwind13 10th Jul 2015, 6:09 PM edit delete reply

She wasn't writing this. May was writing this. May is Galina's biographer, HiFranc. Now HOW that information got there, I mean there is still a channel open to Jet. I'm sure Luna Star is recording it.
Centcomm 11th Jul 2015, 6:44 PM edit delete reply

Yep there is a channel to the Luna Star open .. Jet and Kiku are recording everything.
cattservant 9th Jul 2015, 1:59 AM edit delete reply

Exit on a cloud of glory!
Centcomm 9th Jul 2015, 3:21 AM edit delete reply

indeed ..
Fairportfan 9th Jul 2015, 2:10 AM edit delete reply

So far, Harry Dresden is the only first-person narrator i can remember who legitimately ended a book with "...and then I died."

But he was cheating.
Centcomm 9th Jul 2015, 3:22 AM edit delete reply

True that .. love the Dresden Series.. but take a close look at what she said in the last panel :D
HiFranc 9th Jul 2015, 4:03 AM edit delete reply

Does that mean the next page will have the Epiphytes use a defibrillator on her?
Centcomm 9th Jul 2015, 4:05 AM edit delete reply

We will see right?
Mark_L_A 9th Jul 2015, 4:41 AM edit delete reply

Just thought of something. New type of suit, while it would also be damaged, doesn't it have some Medical monitoring equipment in it? Possibly a built in defibrillator?

ETA Scratch that saw post below. :(
Sheela 9th Jul 2015, 5:59 AM edit delete reply

Ooohh, ruthlessly shocking the half-human/half-robot android until it breaks ?

Man, you have a sadistic streak Mark!
I'm impressed, really!
Mark_L_A 9th Jul 2015, 9:37 PM edit delete reply

Sheela, I'm a former Army Medic and Ambulance driver. If it keeps the patient alive long enough to get to proper care, DO IT! I felt really bad after a kid coded in the rig once and the Medic in the back went to CPR and broke about 6 of the kid's ribs.

But she LIVED!

And that is what we called a "Win"
Sheela 10th Jul 2015, 9:24 AM edit delete reply

I know, I know .. kinda like how any landing you can walk away form, is a good one.
Stormwind13 11th Jul 2015, 2:40 PM edit delete reply

Any landing you SURVIVE can be a good one, Sheela.
Centcomm 11th Jul 2015, 6:44 PM edit delete reply

That is most definitely a WIN Thank you for your Service Mark!
Sheela 14th Jul 2015, 6:24 PM edit delete reply

Being able to walk away from the cash before it blows up, is a good thing too.
DLKmusic 9th Jul 2015, 3:29 AM edit delete reply

One word, Sheela.... ONE.... and I stomp on your tail with cleats...

Centcomm 9th Jul 2015, 4:06 AM edit delete reply

*sneaks out of the line of fire.. *
HiFranc 9th Jul 2015, 4:07 AM edit delete reply

Such actions may get the attention of the RSPCA, PETA and similar organisations.
anonymous coward 9th Jul 2015, 5:40 AM edit delete reply
What, they'd send cake to the person who finally ended the tyranny of the one who chews and gnaws everything? That's a dangerous dog you know, and PETA in particular has been known to kill animals for far less.
Sheela 9th Jul 2015, 6:00 AM edit delete reply

*notices CentComm hahs gotten out of the line of fire*
*activates the flamethrower and protects Galina's body*

Lukkai 9th Jul 2015, 11:50 AM edit delete reply

*bathes a bit in the napalm for a nice tan.*

What? I'm a usenet veteran. You didn't really think weak stuff like this would come even close to hurting me, did you.
Centcomm 9th Jul 2015, 12:26 PM edit delete reply

heheh giggles at Lukkai
Sheela 9th Jul 2015, 7:36 PM edit delete reply

Oh, you survived the great flamewars of '99 as well? well dang, the flamethrower is just to clean out the chaff, for guys like you I have something far more potent!

Cute kitten pictures!
Lukkai 12th Jul 2015, 12:30 AM edit delete reply

Nah, that doesn't hold for long.

Now a random tvtropes link might just do the job.
HiFranc 9th Jul 2015, 4:15 AM edit delete reply

Am I right in thinking that her suit provides telemetry about her health? Did the electronics survive the blasts of the beacon? Is it still feeding information to the Luna Star? Does it have an inbuilt defibrillator?
Centcomm 9th Jul 2015, 4:23 AM edit delete reply

Her Suit electronics were fried by the beacon in the first wave... and a human Defib wont work on her artificial heart. Most of her artificial parts are cracked or damaged at this stage of the game. Honestly the suit is about all that was keeping her on her feet. once she started to relax .. thats it. down she goes.
Sheela 9th Jul 2015, 6:02 AM edit delete reply

Damn you gravity for pulling Galina down!

*shakes angry paw at the heavens*
Centcomm 9th Jul 2015, 12:25 PM edit delete reply

Gravity sucks doesnt it.
Sheela 9th Jul 2015, 7:36 PM edit delete reply

No, it pulls.
anonymous coward 9th Jul 2015, 5:24 AM edit delete reply
Hmm, how could this be written in Galina's voice if she keels over right here? Possibilities:
1) She doesn't die, happy fscking ending: She gets married, Jet lovingly defrags her drives until one of them finally kacks it from old age or a freak turkey jerky accident.
2) The Epiphytes do reconstructive surgery to partially put her back together and see 1) for further details.
3) The Epiphytes can't put her back together as a neo-human but they can build a tree out of what's left and their mind-reading. Poor Jet will be confused about what to do with his wood.
4) Backup of the AI writing this from protected data archives; Galina sort of is writing this, but it's not the same Galina without the perky blond chick attached.
5) The first person narrative is a lie, constructed after the fact from records and appended to a former first-person log/record made by Galina while she was alive, well, and thoroughly bored en route to the danger zone.
6) Other, please specify.
Sheela 9th Jul 2015, 6:08 AM edit delete reply

Bwah ha ha ha ... the third option craked me up!

Ofcourse, if her mind was in a tree, and thus preserved. Then Jet still would have a possibility of trying to build Galina a new body (with the aid of Doctor Granger, AVI and Tokyo Rose) and transfer her over into the new body. He does after all have the scans from when they repaired her spine.
Centcomm 9th Jul 2015, 12:25 PM edit delete reply

Make a tree out of her .. Remember Galina actually has a biographer back on Luna. and even if Galina Died some data from her thoughts would still be suspended in the positronics in her skull. So technically they could have gotten all this data from her corpse.
anonymous coward 9th Jul 2015, 4:06 PM edit delete reply
Huh... wouldn't have expected that.
mjkj 9th Jul 2015, 6:19 AM edit delete reply

*hugs Gali*

You did it, girl!

...and now the happily ever after...

...including becoming Ambassador...

Great one, Cent and Rose, thanks for sharing...

...somehow I dread the epilogue for all the bad news in it...

Centcomm 9th Jul 2015, 12:22 PM edit delete reply

well its not "quite" over yet :D
Matt Knab 9th Jul 2015, 6:27 AM edit delete reply

More heals!
What happened to our party's white mage?! XD
anonymous coward 9th Jul 2015, 7:21 AM edit delete reply
Stuck on the transport ship for the climax level full of cutscene encounters. The writers scripted it so it would be just the main-perspective PC soloing the final mission, so they could have the 'tragic collapse' at the end of the final encounter. Maybe we forgot to level up something or do the right side-missions so she survives for the true ending, and that's why we're getting the sad ending instead?
Lukkai 9th Jul 2015, 11:58 AM edit delete reply

Two things actually: First we didn't use the protection gear supplied until too late.
Second we messed up the quicktime event after the first wave hit.
Tokyo Rose 9th Jul 2015, 10:31 PM edit delete reply

The phone rang, so Gali was distracted and failed to Press X To Not Die. Been there, right?
Centcomm 9th Jul 2015, 12:21 PM edit delete reply

hehe its like in Mass Effect when you get less than 100 percent on your side quests .. you win but pay a terrible price.
Sheela 9th Jul 2015, 7:39 PM edit delete reply

Nothing like sauntering up to the final boss, down him in 3 hits and then watch a cutscene where the boss narrowly escapes by overpowering your character and jump into a portal.

.... wtf, he's dead, on the floor ... dammit, not again!
vousrein 9th Jul 2015, 11:59 AM edit delete reply

I just caught up on this a couple days ago, I love it! I'm excited to see how the end plays out :)
Centcomm 9th Jul 2015, 12:19 PM edit delete reply

yay ! welcome to the comments Vousrein ! Im really happy you like it ! your comic is pretty darn awesome too!
vousrein 9th Jul 2015, 12:45 PM edit delete reply

ahhhhh thank you lol! :')
chk 9th Jul 2015, 12:59 PM edit delete reply

Shit! I hope the last five pages aren't a funeral.
Thor 9th Jul 2015, 1:20 PM edit delete reply
Don't be silly! Would you hold a funeral for a toaster or for a pocket calculator?
chk 9th Jul 2015, 2:14 PM edit delete reply

Galina is a little more than that.
anonymous coward 9th Jul 2015, 4:09 PM edit delete reply
Yeah, I had a funeral for my sweet toaster oven--they don't make 'em like that anymore. Galina was at least as nifty a gadget!
Centcomm 10th Jul 2015, 12:44 AM edit delete reply

Yeah I think Galina is way better than a kitchen gadget .. She can make pancakes!
Sheela 10th Jul 2015, 3:08 PM edit delete reply

ooOoooohh ... now I want pancakes!
Howard 9th Jul 2015, 8:54 PM edit delete reply
I am gonna miss this comic.. I so rarely get into the conversations on comic strips and also its one of the best stories I ever came across. And I work nights so I have plenty of downtime to troll the net for comics so that's saying something. I know there is always datachasers, but I found lunar star first and it was in my humble opinion the better of the two. I know its got a few more to go but as this is the official end of the story I wanted to say something. So long Lunar Star you was a very good read!
DLKmusic 9th Jul 2015, 9:16 PM edit delete reply

I am saving my Goodbyes to Luna Star till the end of the epilogues... I am... hoping... for a NON "pull your heart out of your chest, throw it on the floor, and jump up and down on it several times" ending!

Pretty please? With cream and sugar on top?
Centcomm 10th Jul 2015, 12:42 AM edit delete reply

:D im really happy you enjoyed it Howard .. It really all depends on final reactions on wheather or not Galina may make a comeback ( in some form or another )

Heck there are still 2 years of her life we haven't covered .. ie from her activation to the beginning of Luna Star.
highlander55 9th Jul 2015, 10:52 PM edit delete reply

Unexpected ending Ladies! Kudos to you both. Can't wait to start at the beginning and read through uninterrupted.
Centcomm 10th Jul 2015, 12:43 AM edit delete reply

thank you Highlander ! :D i had a friend that wouldnt read LS untill it had totally finished :D
PriorKnowledge 9th Jul 2015, 11:08 PM edit delete reply
Old Yeller ending. Hero animals never get to ride into the sunset in Disney movies. Disney always kills them off. NOT FAIR. Human heroes always get to bask in cheers but not animal heroes. I always hated Disney for that. And now you do it to a cyborg hero.
Centcomm 10th Jul 2015, 12:43 AM edit delete reply

I always hated the ending to old yeller .. all im going to say is come back for the epilogue :D
StellarJay 10th Jul 2015, 10:03 AM edit delete reply

In all fairness to Disney, they only made movies based on the stories, they didn't write the stories.
pastutopia 10th Jul 2015, 4:39 AM edit delete reply

I got nothing else. I'm waiting for :)'s but so far it's all :_(

aww offers a Hug!
StellarJay 10th Jul 2015, 10:07 AM edit delete reply

What a journey this has been! I came to this story knowing that it was going to have an end, as I saw that posted in Staff and Sword, but now I'm sorry it's happening. It feels too soon! Still, I have to say that I've enjoyed ride thoroughly. At least I can do it over again. :)
Centcomm 11th Jul 2015, 6:42 PM edit delete reply

Yep any time :D
Antale 10th Jul 2015, 6:36 PM edit delete reply
I knew this was coming... but I wasn't ready for it...
Damn you people and your awesome storytelling!
Stormwind13 11th Jul 2015, 2:57 PM edit delete reply

I agree with you there Antale. They told their story... but damn it doesn't seem like it should end. I want MORE from the characters, years more even. :-)
Centcomm 11th Jul 2015, 6:42 PM edit delete reply

Thank you Antale .. thank you *takes a Bow*
Timotheus 10th Jul 2015, 9:15 PM edit delete reply

I think it all depends on whether or not she's got Evereadys in her battery back up. What kind of genius would create a clone daughter without a back up oxygen/circulatory system for her brain. She's survived hard vacuum.
Centcomm 10th Jul 2015, 10:58 PM edit delete reply

She has survived hard vacuum :D you get a gold star for remembering that!

yeeesh .. well im glad you liked it :D 5 more pages to go!
CyberSkull 11th Jul 2015, 7:16 AM edit delete reply

Up next: a lovely funeral narrated by her post-humous reconstructed A.I.
Centcomm 13th Jul 2015, 9:58 PM edit delete reply

That would be very sad..
CyberSkull 13th Jul 2015, 10:05 PM edit delete reply

How many happy funerals have you been to?
Malcadon 13th Jul 2015, 6:29 PM edit delete reply

Good thing their was no mirror around, as the last thing anyone should see in their final moments is to see yourself in that ugly spacesuit. Dying alone in her case might not be a such a bad thing.
Centcomm 13th Jul 2015, 9:59 PM edit delete reply

vanity thy name is Galina?
DLKmusic 13th Jul 2015, 9:52 PM edit delete reply

I'm not ready to post a funeral video yet! She's not dead!!!

**Sticks fingers in ears*** LALALALALALA I CAN"T HEAR YOU!

Well we find out in a few hours now don't we!
Guest 28th Jul 2015, 8:16 PM edit delete reply
There is simply no way that the rest of her body suffered damage and not her brain. Recent research in shell-shock shows that strong air waves that barely hurts most of the body can completely reroute the brain, depriving the victim of much mental capability, sometimes resulting in personality change or loss of speech. Logically, it makes sense that the most delicate and intricate parts of the body would be most hurt by general disruptions. This is not the case most of the time because your brain is very well protected and insulated. However, it turns out that compression waves just go through helmets, skulls, and the various shock absorbers in your skull like they aren't even there. If her brain is tougher than an ordinary human's, then I really don't see the reason why the rest of her body is so weak. Basically, I am just not buying the whole "killing my body but my mind is insulated beyond outside such feeble things as bodily damage" thing because the weakest part of your body is your brain.
