"Hulk Smash!", approximately...

Galina must be intimidated if she misses the Captain!
Centcomm 7th Jul 2012, 2:56 AM edit delete reply

well hes a bit more .. articulate than hulk .. and yeah Gali is impressed , to say the least
cattservant 7th Jul 2012, 2:22 PM edit delete reply

By intimidated, I mean by the uncertain and dangerous situation that just keeps escalating around her. (Not by Edict. Quite the opposite actually!)
CyberSkull 8th Jul 2012, 12:31 PM edit delete reply

HULK open door!
cattservant 7th Jul 2012, 3:02 AM edit delete reply

"that hatchet..." Wouldn't it do a Jekyll and Hyde* the first human she encounters?

*(Switch context from tool to weapon with all the ensuing excitement.)
Centcomm 7th Jul 2012, 3:41 AM edit delete reply

yes thats a very good question the "hatchet" she had no problems doing violence with it to the door or holding it . so what does that say :P
cattservant 7th Jul 2012, 4:41 AM edit delete reply

Says hybrids are wild cards perhaps. Bouncing back and forth 'twixt DC and LS, it's fairly easy to forget to remember the historical time difference.*

*(Everything is so hyper-modern and exotic!)

nods some tech in DC universe hasnt changed much in 900+ years thats another thing that keeps somethings static .. and it may not be obvious whats advanced and whats not...

The hatchet redux: Whoever did the basic programing (by definition, a person (or a committee, more likely) with a scientific mindset) drew an arbitrary line between tool and weapon. Can't have your "hewers of wood and drawers of water" allergic to shovels! But (there always is one), hypothetically: Who is more deceased; The unfortunate entity on the wrong end of a molecular disruptor or the dude hit on the head with a stone hand ax?
Centcomm 7th Jul 2012, 6:50 PM edit delete reply

in this quandry - a "weapon" counts as a object or device for the express purpose of causing harm to self and others.. also a "tool" can become a weapon depending on the "context" inhibitor devices in DC use simple logic systems to determien the actions avalable , you have seen her use a "hatchet" quite effectively , but thats a multi purpose device , the second she picked up a gun , ( that has no other purpose than to cause harm BAM ! ) you have also seen edict use a "device" to disarm her.. :D it does make sense and follow a logical path.
cattservant 7th Jul 2012, 7:11 PM edit delete reply

Can the inhibitors be overridden by an outside source with valid authorization or are they 'subconscious'(instinctive) in function? Or is it a 'work in progress' at this point on the timeline?
Centcomm 7th Jul 2012, 7:38 PM edit delete reply

in modern DC or currently? there are 2 diffrent answers depending...
cattservant 7th Jul 2012, 11:24 PM edit delete reply

Galina says that she doesn't have self-diagnostics on page 23 so I'm guessing she isn't equipped with a 'line-in'.
Centcomm 7th Jul 2012, 11:34 PM edit delete reply

that would be correct .. she has no "data-port" nor method of "jacking-in" to mod her - as doc said he couldnt interface with her eather. this is also congruent with what minx said " you cant format a andriod!" :D
cattservant 7th Jul 2012, 11:41 PM edit delete reply

Or as the old proverb says; 'You can lead an android to knowledge, but you can't make them format!'

Centcomm 8th Jul 2012, 11:55 AM edit delete reply

oops well the person I was responding too edited >_<

you are quite correct on a number of points, a point im not sure ive made clear or not is a lot of weapons " guns ect et all " are "chipped" to interface or to prevent mishandling and yes a gun "could be used as a tool" and you have hit on a very important point. note "her" decision that this was a "weapon" triggered the violation. where as the hatchet did not trigger any reaction at all... because of the intended use. the speed and processing power of computers in this work is above what we have today. and the "Asimov laws" are a "nick-name" for a complex set of rules. that are used. and go ahead blather away. I like it ! ( and I really appreceate that someone likes it enough to comment :D
Centcomm 8th Jul 2012, 12:10 PM edit delete reply
