Actually, that is a good idea. Shiny reflective surfaces on the moon can blind someone during the lunar day, there is no atmosphere to filter out a good portion of the sunlight coming in.

however, the shine is to deflect the heat absorption , theres also no air to cool down parts .. and over heat thats why ships are light colors and reflective most of the time .. his finish is as much for his protection than looks

In the Lensman Series, Galactic Patrol Standard armor was as reflective as possible for that reason too. Even more important was to deflect the fire of high energy beam weapons.
