Better late than NEVER, Captain... Geez, having to have a CIVILIAN (Amy doesn't have a rank to go with that combat chassis does she? :-D) save your charge... For SHAME. :-D
Centcomm 30th Jan 2014, 4:53 AM edit delete reply

Amy is technicly under "equipment" ... and has no rank .. >_<
highlander55 30th Jan 2014, 1:07 AM edit delete reply

Rose sounds really surprised and elated at the same time!
Sheela 30th Jan 2014, 2:48 AM edit delete reply

Well, yeah, she just got herself the first sparked Android and it is even the perfect bodyguard for Galina.

She's like the child that gets to open ALL the gifts under the chrstmas tree, even the ones not for it.
Rose is a happy camper right now. :)
Centcomm 30th Jan 2014, 4:54 AM edit delete reply

Rose LOVES advancement .. and this .. well its jackpot.. even more so than Galina.
cattservant 30th Jan 2014, 7:47 AM edit delete reply

Galina is a unique 'bridge'.
Amy is the first member of a new race!
Sheela 30th Jan 2014, 9:56 AM edit delete reply

Not only are they both highly unusual, a huge step forward and somewhat similar, but the strong one is protective of the weak one.

Rose really hit the jackpot here!
Centcomm 30th Jan 2014, 8:54 PM edit delete reply

didnt she though!
Sheela 31st Jan 2014, 4:10 PM edit delete reply

Now she just have to convince Captain Yukimura to teach Amy how to be a bodyguard for Galina and Rose will have managed to win several lotteries at the same time.
Tokyo Rose 31st Jan 2014, 8:10 PM edit delete reply

Sheela 31st Jan 2014, 8:51 PM edit delete reply

Indeed, no way the authors could have been planning this for a long time !

Also, thanks for the drink. :)
Stormwind13 1st Feb 2014, 12:12 AM edit delete reply

LOL. Watch it Rose or the Scots and Irish will bankrupt you! :-D
velvetsanity 1st Feb 2014, 10:57 AM edit delete reply

And I happen to be both Scot *and* Irish >:)
Stormwind13 1st Feb 2014, 4:20 PM edit delete reply

Doesn't that mean you have to get into a drunken brawl with yourself at least once a week, velvet? :-D
velvetsanity 2nd Feb 2014, 11:42 AM edit delete reply

Lol. Nah, the polish side of me keeps the scot and the irish from fighting. Here is how/why.
mjkj 1st Feb 2014, 5:53 PM edit delete reply

Thank you, Rose, where can I send the tab?
highlander55 4th Feb 2014, 12:03 AM edit delete reply

I'm Irish and English on one side so I like a Jack Daniels with beer. But my French side- umm! lets just say I don't like wine and leave it at that shall we.
Dragonrider 30th Jan 2014, 1:09 AM edit delete reply

You know when Rose interjects profanity into the conversation she doesn't consider it cursing. She calls it conversation enhancement.
WinterJay 30th Jan 2014, 1:29 AM edit delete reply
Aha yeah - some beautiful color to boring, normal speech.
Sheela 30th Jan 2014, 2:49 AM edit delete reply

You should see her interpretive dancing then.

It's currently banned in 14 states and under review in all the others. >_<
Dragonrider 30th Jan 2014, 3:04 AM edit delete reply

How about Europe and Asia what's the count there? Always pictured her like the Mama San at the Golden Peacock, get out of line with one of her girls and you get what ever heavy is at hand up side your head.
Centcomm 30th Jan 2014, 4:54 AM edit delete reply

yeah pretty much.. :D
Sheela 30th Jan 2014, 10:44 AM edit delete reply

I dunno about the rest of europe, but the Crian ambassadors love seeing Tokyo Rose dance, so she has a permanent invite from Ariel in Copenhagen.

Besides, Ariel and Tokyo Rose have a prank war going on, so they often visit one another. Every now and then they test out their pranks on other AIS's first, to see how well they work ... this usually ends up being Centcomm. There's a reason why Centcomm thinks that Rose is a spikey ball of hate.

Though that may be highly non-canon, unless Centcomm (the author) deems it so. XD
Centcomm 30th Jan 2014, 8:54 PM edit delete reply

LOL neat! well i cant say i dont like the idea..
Sheela 31st Jan 2014, 3:58 PM edit delete reply

Ah, but is it canon ?
Tokyo Rose 31st Jan 2014, 8:11 PM edit delete reply

Non-canon, but hilarious.
Sheela 31st Jan 2014, 8:51 PM edit delete reply

Ah, too bad, I kinda hoped the prank-war was canon. :D
velvetsanity 30th Jan 2014, 4:18 PM edit delete reply

'Colorful metaphors', as Jim Kirk once called them, can be rather interesting to study at times...
Stormwind13 30th Jan 2014, 1:09 AM edit delete reply

Noticed the title there... Number 5 is alive! :-D
Dragonrider 30th Jan 2014, 1:14 AM edit delete reply

I think I have figured out why Douchebags family all hate AI"s and Androids so much. They're all descended from Dr. Numb-Nuts here.
Sheela 30th Jan 2014, 2:50 AM edit delete reply

re-assemble !
Centcomm 30th Jan 2014, 4:55 AM edit delete reply

I could NOT resist the urge to put that there.. :D
Stormwind13 30th Jan 2014, 1:16 AM edit delete reply

This EPIC enough for you? :-D
Dragonrider 30th Jan 2014, 1:24 AM edit delete reply

Rose seems to think so, now all they have to do is get Jett up to operate on Galina, and get our new AI out of here without being torched for malfunction. Also get tranks in Doc before he collapses from a ruptured blood vessel.
Stormwind13 30th Jan 2014, 1:29 AM edit delete reply

Actually, Rose had a request there... I like the song, but it doesn't seem as epic to me. :-D
WinterJay 30th Jan 2014, 1:39 AM edit delete reply
Hahaha, I didn't even catch the possible reference until you put this link up! :D
velvetsanity 30th Jan 2014, 2:05 AM edit delete reply

I'd say this might be what's playing in Rose's head, given her snark and sense of humor. :D
Centcomm 30th Jan 2014, 4:59 AM edit delete reply

yeah... more than likely with whats going on dirtside.. >_<
Sheela 30th Jan 2014, 10:23 AM edit delete reply

I dunno ... I keep thinking she's listening to this !

Besides, you can't go wrong with a bit of guitarsolo and attitude. :)
Centcomm 30th Jan 2014, 8:46 PM edit delete reply

totally classic..
cattservant 30th Jan 2014, 1:24 AM edit delete reply

Every box Tokyo Rose opens has a surprise in it.
What a lucky girl!
Centcomm 30th Jan 2014, 5:14 AM edit delete reply

yes she is !
jamie59 30th Jan 2014, 1:25 AM edit delete reply

Hello cussing Rose. Broken bones will now be the good part of Granger's day.
Stormwind13 30th Jan 2014, 1:27 AM edit delete reply

LOL jamie. Oh, I hope you are RIGHT (yes, I truly dislike Granger) and BAD things happen to him. :-)
Centcomm 30th Jan 2014, 5:14 AM edit delete reply

hehe but of course, and yes hes in DEEP kaka...
velvetsanity 31st Jan 2014, 6:12 PM edit delete reply

She's not cussing, she's injecting colorful metaphors into her sentences. :D
WinterJay 30th Jan 2014, 1:35 AM edit delete reply
Let the present-giving commence quickly, eh? I hope we get some bone-breaking like Jamie said...

To INTENSE music ;)
Centcomm 30th Jan 2014, 5:20 AM edit delete reply

heheh - there are times i would LOVE to see this as a movie or TV show.. it would only take a few million dollars.. any backkers?
mjkj 30th Jan 2014, 8:41 PM edit delete reply

Yup, count me in :)

I think I have a cent or two to spare... :D
mjkj 30th Jan 2014, 1:40 AM edit delete reply

Captain Kiku and May for the rescue!!!

I hope they soon will realize that Galina is in pain and relieve her from the suffering by reattaching the collar...

Which is more important than apprehending the dr. who already is apprehended by Amy...

*hugs May, Amy and Galina*

As for the music: I think what Rose meant was Jingle Bells... :D

Stormwind13 30th Jan 2014, 1:53 AM edit delete reply

Not unless it was something like this Jingle Bells, mjkj [Holly GEEZ, NSFW!!!]
Dragonrider 30th Jan 2014, 2:05 AM edit delete reply

Ou something like this*spoiler NSF*
Centcomm 30th Jan 2014, 5:16 AM edit delete reply

Centcomm 30th Jan 2014, 5:15 AM edit delete reply

things are going to happen vwery quickly here .. the captain is not hesitating very long at all. and she has not forgotten Galina's pain.
Stormwind13 30th Jan 2014, 1:46 AM edit delete reply

May is SO seeing things above her pay grade (considering she doesn't HAVE a pay grade :-D). I have a feeling she is going to have to GO with Galina. I'm hoping they send Amy along too. :-)
Dragonrider 30th Jan 2014, 2:10 AM edit delete reply

May isn't sure what she is seeing. All she knows is her friend is in pain, has been injured and apparently the man tried to kill her friend and the robot stopped him.
Centcomm 30th Jan 2014, 5:17 AM edit delete reply

classified things tend to get passsed around the base fairly quickly .. due to the small amount of people in the base ..
Dragonrider 30th Jan 2014, 2:18 AM edit delete reply

Just realized the insult Amy gave Doc numb-nuts, wonder if she intended it or not. "You are a nominally intelligent entity".

From Merriam-Webster Dictionary,
in a very small quantity or degree <although the more expensive TV set is nominally better than the other, it's not worth the big difference in price>
Synonyms negligibly, nominally, slightly"
[Direct quote under doctrine of fair use]

That is gonna hack Doc Self Proclaimed Genius off royally.
Tokyo Rose 30th Jan 2014, 4:42 AM edit delete reply

I probably should have gone with "theoretically". I was aiming for the sense of "you've been called this, but I ain't seen it yet, sunshine" :D
Dragonrider 30th Jan 2014, 2:13 PM edit delete reply

Actually Theoretically is a bit better of a zinger, however the subtle approach works. Doc in a box will have it hit him right about the time he goes to sleep and be up all night cussing.
cattservant 30th Jan 2014, 2:36 PM edit delete reply

Reputedly would work.
Centcomm 30th Jan 2014, 5:18 AM edit delete reply

I actually loved that line :D
Sheela 30th Jan 2014, 10:29 AM edit delete reply

Heh, I read it as "I'm telling you you're stupid in a nice way, please give me a reason to hurt you more."
... I dunno how close to the mark I was.
King Mir 30th Jan 2014, 12:40 PM edit delete reply
I would have said "ostensibly", but "nominally" works pretty well here. I'll have to be careful NOT to use that line next time somebody does something stupid in my vicinity.
Mayyday 30th Jan 2014, 3:12 AM edit delete reply

Sheela 30th Jan 2014, 10:30 AM edit delete reply

Oh my!
Don B. 30th Jan 2014, 4:36 AM edit delete reply
Rose certainly has a way with words, doesn't she?
Centcomm 30th Jan 2014, 5:18 AM edit delete reply

yes she does... I think Teedee took lessons :D
Sheela 30th Jan 2014, 10:30 AM edit delete reply

Rose and TeeDee probably co-authored the "Great book of swear words." :)
Centcomm 30th Jan 2014, 8:55 PM edit delete reply

Oh yeah .. just wish we got royaltys ...

Warning: Status Urgent
When a unit undergoes an unexplained, unexpected, and/or unintended deviation from standard programming parameters it is labeled a malfunction.
Unit Granger, Model Human, Classification Doctor: Robotics has demonstrated behavior indicative of a malfunction of his model's empathy circuit. Recommended action: Immediate detainment and disassembly for inspection. Note, organic components display rapid deterioration upon cessation of function, ensure proper storage of components to allow for identification of faults.
Centcomm 30th Jan 2014, 5:19 AM edit delete reply

Amy has NO intention of allowing Granger anywhere near Galina again. :D
Sheela 30th Jan 2014, 10:32 AM edit delete reply

Unit not suitable for recycling, recommended action : cremation.
Dragonrider 30th Jan 2014, 2:18 PM edit delete reply

Sheela, he's enough of a waste of oxygen as it is. Don't waste more in cremating him. toss him out the lock and make jerksicles out of him.
Stormwind13 30th Jan 2014, 7:59 PM edit delete reply

How about chemical cremation or Bio Cremation, Dragonrider? :-D Break him to down to some (potentially) useful chemicals. :-)
Centcomm 30th Jan 2014, 8:56 PM edit delete reply

well they generally sent the bodys back to earth .. untill now.
Dragonrider 30th Jan 2014, 11:32 PM edit delete reply

Hey I'm all for that do it kinetic delivery he cremates in orbit. Or would that violate the Geneva conventions against hazardous chemical warfare?
Antonious 30th Jan 2014, 11:39 PM edit delete reply

Send him back to Earth via mass launcher as in "The Moon is a Harsh Mistress". I am sure a pod can be designed to allow Granger to survive the acceleration and the duration of the trip until contact is made with Earth's atmosphere. After that, he becomes his most useful ... as a kinetic strike weapon.
Dragonrider 31st Jan 2014, 12:54 AM edit delete reply

Why bother with a pod, just have Amy insert a steel rod prior to exposure to vacuum toss the jerksicle on the launch rails and go for it.
Aetrun 31st Jan 2014, 8:28 AM edit delete reply
Error, this unit did not recommend recycling of parts. This unit's recommendation was to analyze the faulty unit, Designation Granger. Initial recommendation was to disassemble for study. Further analysis of the issue suggests that the fault may arise from an interaction of components. As such, an updated recommendation has been generated.
Recommended Action: Immediate detainment and restraint. Ensure Malfunctioning Unit's vitals remain stable and unit identity matrix remains active to allow for comprehensive study.
Further Recommendation for Action: Subject unit to vast array of physical and psychological phenomenon while monitoring neural activity to determine potential causes of faults. Record and file for review of actions and possible causes of faults. Seek variation of responses from mild to extreme in order to determine if severity of experience alters activation of faults. To avoid contamination of response, no warning should be given to patient prior to stimulus.

Or in plain english: Tie him down and study what various 'stimulus' does to his brain so we can identify and remove/prevent other creeps from getting access to military secrets. And though you lot are really too smart for me to need to say it I wanna say it anyway- yep I'm basically suggesting we torture him for science and security, justified by his completely immoral disregard for life. (Normally I'm against that kinda thing, but hey, he earned it!....Hm, let's add Prince Douchebag from the future while we're grabbing deserving fellows!)
mjkj 30th Jan 2014, 8:55 PM edit delete reply

Yayyy - Amy really is a hero :D

Centcomm 30th Jan 2014, 9:54 PM edit delete reply

yes she is... :D
Lasertaged 30th Jan 2014, 9:00 PM edit delete reply
So,... If it's a restricted area...How did Doc Moron get in. I know the girl already snick in, but a robotics doctor and a robot would have been mighty noticeable, methinks. Can't wait to see the repercussions. I would have thunk she would have a more active monitoring.
Lasertaged2 30th Jan 2014, 9:03 PM edit delete reply
And I just wanted to mention that I see some things will always be the same even in the future. I see the hard plastic chair in panel 1 that I hated so much in school growing up...
lasertaged2 30th Jan 2014, 9:08 PM edit delete reply

Cent- You and Tokyo Rose are going to get me in trouble. Every day when I get to work I open Data Chasers and Luna Star. I can't help it.
Centcomm 30th Jan 2014, 9:54 PM edit delete reply

Welcome to the fold! love your icon ! sorry about getting you in trouble .. Adjusts halo :D HUGS!

Looks like Schlock to me :)
Centcomm 30th Jan 2014, 9:53 PM edit delete reply

They never die.. they are enternal.. >_<
highlander55 31st Jan 2014, 1:14 AM edit delete reply

The chair is probably recycled metal and plastic. Just like their water and oxygen is. Not unless they have a Staples outlet on base.
Centcomm 31st Jan 2014, 1:16 AM edit delete reply

oh yes i have no doubt about that highlander :D
Centcomm 30th Jan 2014, 9:53 PM edit delete reply

Actually that will be explained in a few pages .. :D
Stormwind13 31st Jan 2014, 1:19 AM edit delete reply

Will we get to SEE these 'few' pages... before the mobs come for you with torches and pitchforks, EVIL artist (and equally evil authoress)? :-D
Tokyo Rose 31st Jan 2014, 8:24 PM edit delete reply

Granger unzipped and waved his authority in the guards' faces, and the guards didn't argue. "You're the head robotics guy and you're here to see the robot? Okay."

Walking in like you have every right to be there is a tactic that works. Walk up, flash a badge or ID card, bark a brusque remark or two, and a truly astonishing number of people will just let you pass. This can also work if you're carrying an appropriate prop and wearing a thoughtful, purposeful, or urgent expression.

Granger actually went one better--he didn't walk up with the intention to deceive at all. He's totally secure in his own privileges. (Note: This is not necessarily a negative personality trait; Kiku Yukimura had full confidence in her own privileges in shooting Rainer and giving orders to base personnel, and nobody argued with her either.)

As we saw when Gali first arrived, the base security personnel are somewhat lacking in discipline at times. If you aren't the most dedicated sort, it's fairly easy to look at a person who's bearing down on you with Granger's level of confidence and authority and think "This is above my pay grade, and I am not getting in the way".
talantus 31st Jan 2014, 1:08 AM edit delete reply
awesome! spaking and defining her assertiveness. all that is missing is for amy to develop some sass lol altough i guess she already started with how she referred to DR. granger.

either way its awesome and it is me or why do i get a flash of ACDC when you say HEll`s bell and fuck a monkey.( then again i might be streching it.)
~~hell`s bell!! they`re coming for you, hell`s bells!!~~

Does the directive command actually work on sparked androids? Doesn't seem to for Amy and Ceci.
Stormwind13 1st Feb 2014, 3:20 AM edit delete reply

I don't think so... Only for robots, it seems Don. :-)
cattservant 1st Feb 2014, 3:23 AM edit delete reply

I bet it depends on
how polite
they are feeling
at the moment.
Stormwind13 1st Feb 2014, 1:14 PM edit delete reply

Someone going around issuing DIRECTIVES, Cat I imagine they wouldn't be feeling TOO polite. I mean, how polite would you feel under those circumstances? :-)
Centcomm 1st Feb 2014, 10:28 PM edit delete reply

Directives "talk" to the controlling part of a robot or Andriods construction .. Ceci's combat computer can accept directives , Amy has had "directive" commands relaxed.. in this case shes ignoring them. and Galina was only given a single hard "Directive" thats been seen in the comic ..
talantus 2nd Feb 2014, 8:12 PM edit delete reply
true the only thing that is really out of galina's control is that she can't get ahold of (i'm assuming) any kind of weapons, or firearms at least)
Centcomm 3rd Feb 2014, 6:17 AM edit delete reply

to current yes Galina has a "block" against handling any weapon thats known to be a lethal weapon ( note she was able to hold and use a hand axe as a "tool" ) but a Firearm is a big no no...
talantus 1st Feb 2014, 6:21 AM edit delete reply
i wanted to know, is there any other way to contact you cent, or tokyo rose, other than the comment? do you guys take fan art?

"Or of Me.", says Amy!

That might indicate that Dr. Granger was getting on her 'shit-list' even before she became self aware.
talantus 3rd Feb 2014, 5:38 AM edit delete reply
the way i understand it, i believe she was self aware for a long time. she just was stuck in all those restriction and directive that she was not able to make a decision. kinda like her mind was shackled or shrouded. with jet's tweaking she was finally able to ''start the engine'' so to speak. she just needed the proper incentive to spark( see what i did there :P)
cattservant 3rd Feb 2014, 6:02 AM edit delete reply

One of the main things on her 'list'!
Centcomm 3rd Feb 2014, 6:15 AM edit delete reply

Actually you are dead on Talantus .. that is exactly what happened.. and this "Stress" moment and the realiazation she HAD to do something or watch Galina die made her go full out with denying Directives .. similar to the way Kelly had to rationalize her actions in "mockingbird segment" in Datachasers..
Talantus 3rd Feb 2014, 8:07 AM edit delete reply
Hehe well you made a pretty good job at telling the story and with everyone's input it was easy to connect the dots ^_^
